Do horses ever just buck for fun out of the blue. I mean realy big nasty bucks.

Would an increas in feed make a totaly quiet horse go nutty He if fine at home but when at a training day today he put in several bueaties and got me off.

He has had an increase in food because he was very skinny bat he has gained a lot of weight not fat or just under good condition but alot from what he was.

His saddle has also been a problem even though i have had it fitted several times it just dosent work.

He has never done anything like this before and is usually the doppyest horse on the place even though he is a 5yo 17.2hh TB. I have not fallen off him or even come close to falling the whole time I have had him. I realy dont understand what happened.

After I was off he went back to being doppy well at least after we caught him he did.

Then when we lunged him he realy woke up and started cantering and bucking on the lunge but not too bad nothing like when i was on him. My perents are now realy scared for me and i am worried that he may think ohh when i buck she gets off even though i lunged him for a good half hour.

Horses can often change if they go from being a poor doer and under weight to feeling good, when they are under wieght and poor they don't have the energy to play up so much , but once the start to gain wieght and feel good sometimes problems do come out, it might be that this will be only for a little while as the transistion to feeling good happens, but you do need to make sure this doesn't quickly become a habit. i think that could have a impact on what happened to you. do you have a instructor or someone that could come and look at him?

The fact that it was really nasty bucks make me think its more pain that exuburance, my horse bucks sometimes when he is feeling good, but there not nasty ones, just like hes going "WOO HOO i feel good" and having a little fun.

You say the saddle doesn't fit properly although you have had people to try and fit it, that also will make a horse buck as it could be causing him back pain and he will be trying to alleviate that pain... what problems do they have in fitting a saddle to him?

He has a very high wither and most saddles sit with the back way to far down so I got a back raiser. most saddles tend to bridge on him.

I was just shocked that he would do this as he is normally so quiet. :(

I recently had a new saddle fitted for my horse and its fantastic, she works like an angel underneath it!
i had it fitted by Joni Bentley, she has brought out her own range of saddles and they really are fabulous in design and function. If your horse is having these problems i would recommend you ring her, she is also a qualified Alexander and Classical Equitation combined trainer.
If you want to contact her go to her website; www.bentleyequestrian.co.uk
