Start weight: 156 lbs (11stone 2lbs) was a lot more but most of the rest was baby weight.
Goal weight: 116 lbs (8 stone 4lbs)
Amount to lose each week: Anything from 1-3lbs would be good
Method Use: Calorie Counting
Amount lost to far: 8lbs
Maybe to keep this EVEN more on topic we could also put what horse/s it is we would like to slim down for (either one of our own or if not a owner then a type you would like to ride more often etc)
ME -
I would prefer to weigh less to make life easier for my 14hh Welsh Cob although I don't think he finds me currently too heavy.
If I got down to my target weight within 18 months then I'd like to be able to back and occasionally ride my dartmoor filly when she is old enough (she's currently 2.5yrs and about 11.3hh (I'm 5ft 2)

Start weight: 9.5 stone
Goal weight: 8.5 stone
Amount to lose each week: have no clue  ill say 3lbs
Method to lose: increase excercise, eat better food- more fruit and veg. less chocolate :D no snacking!
Amount lost so far: technically none, but if i count from when i last weighed myself 1/2 stone :D
Reason: because i have a fat tummy and fat legs, which i hate. i also just dont feel comfortable at this weight.
I would like to weigh less as im often asked to get on smaller ponies and dont want to crush them! :D
ps. ill be very suprised if i actually do this :D im useless at losing weight! although i did lost 7lbs in 1 1/2 weeks after stop eating break at school :D

Buy grapes!! :D I love grapes AND setting yourself the little mission of removing all the skins before you eat them is guaranteed to cure any boredom! I'm like you, I eat when I'm bored :o bad!
ETA: Well since I'm here, I'd better join in!
Start weight: Our scales have broken so I weigh myself every 6 months or so in IKEA. I think at the last visit I was 11 stone.
Goal weight: Lets aim for 10. But to be honest it's less about the numbers and more about how comfortable I am.
Amount to lose each week: No idea, but I'd like to see or feel an improvement each week. (Plus I'm not driving to IKEA every week to find out! :p)
Method: Eat LESS! Run more, cycle wherever possible, drink more water and no cake! Stupid cake.
Amount lost so far: Not very much at all.
Reason: So I feel more confident in those pesky jods :o Curse the tightness.

Start weight: At the moment no idea but I'll find out!
Goal Weight: First step is to be 13st something as this sounds so much better than 14st something and then eventually to get under 11st 5lbs as this takes me to within the normal range for my height etc.
Amount to lose each week: Whatever comes - most important goal is not to gain.
Method to lose: Reductil and trying to eat how a slim person would.
Amount lost so far: I'm starting the count from when I next weigh myself but I reckon I've lost at least 1.5 stone since begining of May.
Reason: I just want to be normal and set the right example to my daughter.

Might be a good idea to put your height in too?
Height: 5'3
Start weight: 10 stone 9 1/2 lbs - the most i've been for a long time
Goal Weight: 9 stone 4 lbs was nice and comfortable
Amount to lose each week: 2lbs
Method to lose: Exercise - swimming with my friend 2-3 times a week, starting to cycle (got a mountain bike and loads of trails around here). No more sugary crap, no more carby white bread and potatoes, more veggies.
Amount lost so far: None, just started
Reason: I used to not care, but I was diagnosed with a DVT in my leg a month ago, age 26, so that has scared me into being more active and getting my BMI to a much healthier level, instead of borderline overweight, as it was. Now it is in the overweight zone, I'm on warfarin which a lot of people have reported has put weight on them, gone up 5 lbs in a month :( but then I also lost my cook job, as a result of my health, so i'm even less active now. Now I am pain free I want to get moving!
Another reason is when I am able to ride my ponies again, (in 2 months when the warfarin stops) I don't want to squash them! I want to be fit and healthy so I can get them fit and healthy. Also I have tons and tons of clothes to wear when I do lose the weight lol :D I don't want to be a couch potato anymore, this is the wake up call I needed!

It's not an exact science, rugby players and many athletes would come out as being overweight too, it doesn't take into account body type and muscle mass! You sound fine to me, it's on the border anyway :) (just don't stand next to me or I really will look like a dwarf lol).
However if anyone is like me and know there is no muscle to be seen...lol

Only just overweight. :) I think that is to be taken with a slight pinch of salt. The main thing is that you're healthy and a good weight, whatever the BMI calculator says. You've also got to remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so if you're fairly muscular, the BMI would be more inaccurate.
With my boobs being the size they are, I'm reluctant to accept that I'm borderline obese! ;) I'm big, yes, but not THAT big!
I wonder if there's any way to weigh your boobs...

If your bmi is that then you are only 0.5 overweight :p which is probably the equivalent of about 1-2lb lol, it's also only really a guide.
To sort of explain how BMI's are a guide: My hubby is 6ft 2 and his BMI is 16.1 now that is WAY below average and he is skinny but he's not as skinny and as much on deaths door as everyone would think from his bmi :-P Also he has a physical job yet has no probs lol. He's LOVE to be average BMI but its just never gonna happen. He's always been the same and eats fairly well. (and drinks more calories then I eat ;-) )

Me and mother then went for a ride, I had ravioli for lunch, then went to work, came home from work and went for a run :D

Goal weight: 12 Stone 7lbs
Goal weight by Christmas: 14 stone 7lbs

Amount to lose each week: 1-2 lbs
Method Use: I keep track of everything I eat and drink in a day (got an iphone app for this -well worth the money), and try to stick to 1,800 calories a day
Amount lost so far: 10lbs
Reason: 'cos I need to! Also because I want to be able to ride without feeling guilty about bouncing around on a horse's back, and also so I can have a bigger choice of horses to ride.
Am chuffed because: the scales finally say 16 stone something rather than 17 stone something - they've not said that in a very long time (and this time last year they said 18 stone something )

Well, I'm down 1/2 pound since Monday. Rode for an hour after work yesterday and it was quite warm, so that probably helped with the HUGE lunch I ate! Had a big meeting at work with a catered lunch AND it was someone's retirement, so there was a cake. Of course, I didn't have to have any - but I did - that's something I have to work on.
By the way - I think I'm the fattest person on here!! Is a stone 11 lbs?

I then managed to lose another 3 lbs just eating carefully. I'm back on the Cambridge for another wee while as I'm going to a wedding next week.

I'm on Sole Source. The first day was horrific (but I think part of it was the caffiene working out of my system as I can't have milk on the diet and tea without milk is bleurgh!). I was nauseous, shaking, dizzy and generally wanted to give up after six hours.
I stuck with it, and by the time I was in ketosis (takes about four or five days) I felt fine and was settling in to the diet. I rarely get hungry anymore, and I have far more energy than I ever thought possible. I obsess over food (especially potatoes.. I would kill for a bowl of mash and onion gravy!) but I've learnt the difference between "I want to eat" and "I need to eat" and I've also learnt that often when I think I'm hungry, I'm actually thirsty. My brain has gone under a lot of retraining, which is important for when I hit my target and begin maintainance to prevent me simply putting it all back on.
I lost 7lbs in the first week, but it's really only been the last couple of days that people have started commenting on my weight loss now that I've lost more than a stone. My favourite jeans started out a bit snug, and now the next size down is getting too loose - I'm really looking forward to a shopping spree soon for new clothes! A massive plus for me is that even in my mid-twenties, I still have teenage skin, but all the water I'm drinking now has cleared it up really nicely, so I've got nothing but good things to say about the Cambridge Diet. It is a damn hard diet to stick to, especially when the cravings kick in, but my mantra is "nothing tastes as good as being thin will feel" and I'm actually finding it surprisingly easy to resist.

I'm the opposite.
I found sole sourcing extremely easy to stick to. I liked that fact that I didn't have to think about food and it took any need for judgement away from me.
If somebody were to market 2000 well balanced calories spread over 4 packs a day for once I'd lost the weight then I'd be fine :D

I did (and am using again) sole source. I am lucky because I get a 4th sachet a day being over 5'8":D. I honestly dont think I could keep it going though but to use it as a "now and again" boost it was brilliant.
I know its not really the correct way to use it but 13lbs off in 3 weeks is definately working for me:D
Its really motivated me to eat a healthier diet the rest of the time!

Had my weigh in tonight and there's another 3lbs off, so that's 17lbs in 27 days :D It's slowing down now after the initial drop in the first few weeks, so I'm averaging 3lbs a week.

I know I'm a bit late but could I join in too?
Start weight: 178lb
Goal weight: 123lb
Height: 5'6''
Amount to lose each week: ???
Method Use: Not binge eating and eating for wrong reasons - possibly calorie counting later on
Amount lost to far: 5lb
Reason: I started at 178lb at 5'6'' after writing a phd thesis and living on cake for 6 months. I also started to ride again after about 10 years off while I was writing and I would like to lose weight to make my riding more comfortable and mean I dont end up like a soggy unfit lump at the end of a lesson!
The Cambridge diet you are talking about sounds very interesting although I have a history of getting obsessed with cals and my weight going too low (nice thought at this moment in time!) so I dont know if my friends and OH would let me do it or not if it doesnt involve actual food, just those sachet things? *wanders off to look the diet up* :)
Good luck and well done everyone taking part! :D

Hi Everyone :)
I'm 17 (18 in September :p) & am 5ft short and when I weighed myself @ my Grandparents' House two weeks ago I was 1 - 2 lines away from 8 stone (have no idea about pounds and stuff :P), I feel as though I need to go back down to 7.5 stone in order to continue Ride little Ponies :p but my Parents have hidden the scales & don't like me to be fussy about weight, eating, exercise etc, although I think that being fitter & healthier means you feel better in yourself :p So....
Start weight: Nearlly 8 stone
Goal weight: Preferably 7.5 stone :p
Amount to lose each week: No idea about how this 'lbs' and 'kg' stuff fits into 'stones' but am not on a weight-loss regime really anyway,so it doesnt really matter in my case :p
Method use: Get fitter & Eat Healthier (although I love fruit & veg & try to eat relatively healthily anyway, I think I need to cut down on the Bourbon biscuits :o :P lol)
Amount lost to far: None as far as Im aware :P
Reason: To be light for my Beautiful Horsies & any little Ponies I might Ride, to get fitter & healthier & to feel better about myself :p
Good Luck to All of You who are doing a real weight-loss regime for your Horsies though, it looks from the posts that You're all doing a great job so far, so keep up the good work!! (Or should I say, the healthy eating and exercise :P lol)

I have lost between 2-7lbs (I fluctuate depending on the day and time of day) :D:D:D:D:D and this has motivaed me to lose even more! I have a bridesmaid dress fitting in October so aim to have lost a minimum of 11-12lbs more by then, which should be more than achievable!
Start weight: I'm not saying.
Goal weight: 8 stone.
Amount to lose each week: As much as possible.
Method Use: I am "healthy" anyway - being a huge food fad, I can't bear to eat fatty foods, though I have a strong sweet tooth and a very sensitive stomach (it gets upset easily & quickly, and I get the shakes when I haven't eaten properly). Eating teeny portions and only eating when I really need to.
Amount lost to far: 2-7lbs.
Reason: I hate the way I look and want to be thinner to be able to accept myself and other people's opinion of me. To raise my self esteem.

Hi Lizzi
8 stone is fine for your height and so is 7.5 stone (just), but please don't try to go any lower or you'll look like a skeleton! :p
Anyway, my weigh-in day was yesterday and I'm another 2lb down - I've lost my first half stone! Hurrah!

Start weight: 10 stone
Goal weight: 8-9 stone (I'll decide when I'm happy with my weight!)
Amount to lose each week: 3 lbs
Method Use: Cut out carbs such as bread, pasta, potatoes rice etc. Make sure I get at least 5-a-day. Eat lots of protein rich foods ie fish & chicken with lots of salads. Make vats of homemade soups for lunchtimes. Don't eat after 7pm. Drink 2 litres water per day.
Amount lost to far: 1 Stone (but put on about 5lbs again d'oh). Running 3 times a week.
Reason: To improve my fitness/lung capacity thus improving my asthma ready for the winter of mucking out and dust etc. Also lose weight so I can ride some of YO's littler horses!
Good luck. Maybe this should be make into a sticky?

Aargh this is one of my bugbears! If you're doing a lot of exercise you NEED carbs.
Sorry I had to get it out :o I think no-carb diets are the work of the devil :p

Goal weight: 9 stone
Height: 5'2"
Amount to lose each week: unsure?
Method Use: I am a vegetarian so to up my amount of vegetables and fruit and try to lower my carbs by replacing with meat alternatives, also cutting out naughty chocolate snaks at work:eek:
Amount lost to far: Nada
Reason: Last Winter I went to the docs for my pill check and the nurse was ecstatic and claimed I had lost a stone in 6 months ! and I weighed 10 stone and I went to the docs again the other week and I have gone up to 12 stone! even though I am wearing size 12 work trousers and dont feel heavier? Also for Porsha as she is yound i dont want to have a detrimental effect on her back and would like to be alot lighter so I can have a bigger choice of treeless saddles and espeacially for Porsha's Jumping Carreer!:)

Nothing! BUT I have compared my measurements to a previous time when I was actually lighter, and my measurements are a lot less - 2" off bum, 2" off hips etc, which leads me to believe that a) my medication isn't helping in my weight loss quest and b) all that swimming has toned me up already!
I'm going swimming three times a week now, finally found an exericise I love doing and actually crave! I'm following the GI diet to upp my fibre and cut the fat, and sort out my general digestive problems, it's really good!

B*ll*cks I think I'd better join this. :o
Start weight: 10st10
Goal weight: 9st, I'd like to get down to a comfy size 10 in Next jeans.
Amount to lose each week: 3 lbs
Method Used: 6-8 meals per day! Hurrah! What a cracking diet, the hobbits had it sorted. :D
Amount lost to far: Zilch, naddah, nuffin'.
Reason: My long boots won't do up and if I don't lose it now I doubt I ever will.
I'm going to work on measurements rather than weight though. I never weigh myself. I will be happy when I can fit into my long boots without cutting off my circulation - if they weren't so expensive I would've just bought a new pair by now.
I'm currently training for a 5k run on the 27th September - not sure what my goal is going to be after that. I might have to up it to a 10k run so I train a bit harder. :o

Meh, nothing, but still think it's the meds. I FEEL 10 times better, am swimming 3 times a week, mountain biking twice a week and doing a lot more walking.
Low fat diet, lots of fibre, lean protein etc, I think it will kick in eventually!

Method Use: Eating smaller portions, not having TWO DINNERS  doing my Davina exercise video ;)

Reason: To be easier to carry, not to be so aware of my weight when riding and how wide my thighs look on the saddle! :)

I have lost 10 pounds in the past 2 months. I have been using weight watchers, I really like it because its not a diet its a healthy life style thing, it really puts everything into perspective! I have taken up skipping and can now skip for 25min strait! I am going to take up jogging as well. I have herd that you are not supposed to go by your weight, but by your size, because as you loose weight you are gaining muscle, and muscle weighs more than fat.

I'm so jealous of you lot. I have absoloutly no will :( I really want to loose the weight, but then I turn to junk food. I'm hoping that when I go back to uni I will improve my eating habits. I'm planning to shop online for food in the hope that if i avoid the shops I won't be tempted to just buy crap :( It's difficult for me though because the only fruit/veg I like are apples, beetroot, carrots, brocoli and cauliflower. I'm not a big fish fan (and don't eat lots of meat anyway) and I don't like bread so barely eat that lol. I just need to stop munching on biscuits and fill up some other way.
