First 50 miler

Ok, the lorry is packed and ready to go, I have my directions. All I need to do tomorrow is load up and drive, set up his corral and get a good nights sleep ready for Saturday.

It's our first 50mile competitive ride :eek: A bit nervous but we've done a couple of 40's and he flew through the vettings.

Fingers crossed we do OK.

If I can find the camera and remember to take it I'll coerce the OH into taking photos that is when he's not crewing.

Well we did it, not got many pics but will upload later. Clip was a star we completed the vettings easily, we had a decent average speed considering that the actual milage was 53 miles and it was very hilly.

O how exciting, good luck!!! I did my first competitive 20 miler a couple of weeks ago and won!! Not sure I'll be doing 50 ayn time soon thou.

oh my fingers and everything else is crossed. My first and only 50 was awful due to weather and long delay on mid point vetting due to on course vet emergency so ne vets at halfway point but oh I felt so proud of pony. Please let us all know how you get on.

I'm currently looking into "alternative sports" for me and my horse to do and long distance is something I think my boy would adore :)

Oh good luck!!! :D:D Wow, 50 miles is a lot!

I have my first 29km ride on Sunday and am all panicked that she is not fit enough :( but I know it will be good fun even if we don't make it within time :)

50 miles :eek: al i can say is ouch! but 5 miles would be a big ouch for me too...
