Well I did and I was wrong, the video pretty much shows it all but I honestly thought he didn't know how to jump as well as he did on saturday! So surprised!
It wasn't particuarly graceful in parts but I was happy just to let him enjoy it and work it out himself, Duke is the type of horse who needs more encouragement than stopping so if he was going forwards it was good enough for me! He's not very fit so we kept it short and sweet and little but I'm am so so proud of him :D

Gorgeous horse!!
What was the name of that really famous mare that won the Hickstead Derby a few years ago? Wasnt she a ID x Shire x TB or something like that?? She was huge!

Smashing pics, he looks like he is enjoying himself :)
My boy is 7/8 ID and has a cracking jump on him (although he is broken at the mo :( ) Happily jumped 1m30 tracks bless him in the past.

Perhaps I should have phrased it 'Who said Duke couldn't jump' as that is where my preconception came from :p If you look at the first clip in the video that is why I thought he couldn't. M'I bad, I don't think it anymore:p
Thanks guys :) I'm still so happy with him! He's 16.3hh :)

Loved the vid and pics :D :D :D Thanks babe so much for those.
So proud of him, he tried his heart out for you.:D He definitely has more in him, pretty sure the course he did at the barn last year was 3 foot and he was definitely well clear of those, one was a big double. Will check :)
Duke is 16'3 irish draft x, was told by previous owner he had hunted regularly. He does hate to be left behind from mates so I am sure that would be a huge incentive to go over a gate if need be lol :D
Definitely a 'watch this space' :) he's out of practice but we could both tell he loved it :) Field jumpies on Saturday..... :p

He is really handsome, and he has a lovely jump. IDs are great jumpers- they would be useless hunters if they couldn't jump! My friend has a gorgeous pure ID mare who has a really cracking jump in her, and does everything; hunting, SJing, XC, jumpcross, everything.
