This morning we lost our beloved retired OAP, we've had her for ten years and she was 21 years old. :o As heartbreaking as the last several hours have been, she is not in pain and not suffering anymore, so we take that to hold our chins up and thank her for the impact she had in our life.
Before she was taken away we managed to get some mane and tail, and I'd like to do something special for my mum. But what?
I've heard of the horse hair jewellery (though worried I have got enough) But not sure on price, or length of time to have it made, or companies to use.
Also I thought about getting a drawing of one of the photos we have of her, but again I don't have any idea of cost, time or companies/people to ask.
All advise welcome, I'd really like to get something done for my mum :o
RIP Fizzy, may you rest in peace and watch over the boys for us

so sorry for your loss, we lost our 19yr old after having him for 12 yrs, we kept some mane and tail hair, tied with Ribbon and every now and again I take it out and remember. We had him cremated and buried him and planted a tree, which one year on is thriving , if feeling low I very often find myself talking to it.

I'm so sorry (((hugs)))
I have been debating this since loosing mine- I saw recently a place that does glass hearts pendants or hand held any colour with a name etc engraved and for some extra you can have a little bit of hair put in the middle of the glass.
They are top of my list at the moment- really pretty. They were in Horse and Rider magazine but if you want pm me and i will look out the web site address.
Thinking of you today xx

I'm so very sorry for your loss.
Personally if it was me I'd have a drawing. I have drawings of most of my dogs (must get one done of the most recent addition) and they are extreamly precious to me. I look at them everyday and even though the dogs are still with me I know in years to come these pictures will mean the world to me.
The lady I got my drawings from is called Wendy Poulton. This is the one she did with 3 of my dogs, you can see all her other work too. She does horses beautifully.

So sorry for your loss, hun. Run free, little girl.
I personally prefer pictures and had some superb ones done by lisa_h-her album on here has some really good examples.

Sorry you've lost your girl.
I would go for a drawing - something that the whole family can enjoy and remember her with. I have drawings of all my dogs from the years.

Sorry to hear about that... RIP Fizzy.
Well you could do both ;) Just pick what one you want first or what you think your mum might prefer (for example - my mum doesn't wear jewellery often and would much prefer a professional, nicely framed painting or drawing). Personally i think the drawing would be slightly better as (like someone else said) everyone can share it and there isn't so much of a worry of it breaking or you losing it as there is with jewellery (i got a links of london bracelet for my 21st and i'm so scared of losing it or breaking it!:o)
RE the jewellery, i'm sure i remember there being a post recently where someone asked about the equihearts(?) and the owner/manager of that company was on but from what i've heard a lot of companies will do what they can with the fair you've got so it might be worth dropping them an email and just asking what they could do with it?
