Yayyyyy we did it

Well we did our first ever pleasure/charity ride. We went along the sea walls in Burnham essex. We covered 10.3 miles in 2 hours 28mins. Gypsy lost a shoe half way round but she stayed sound, which was good. Considering it was her first ever ride like this, she was impeccable, stayed calm and level headed. She has never travelled for longer than 20mins in a trailer before either, so for her to tolerate 50mins both ways was brilliant and her loading is miles better than it used to be, it is now taking us less than 5 mins to get her in. She is virtually loading herself now. This will be the first of many such rides, i think we have the bug...

Ooh, do you mean Burnham-on-Crouch? I lived there for a few months as a teenager. It was before I got into horses but I used to go dinghy sailing on the river. Then we moved a few miles up the coast and I used to ride my bike around the sea wall for miles and miles, and then I eventually discovered horses. It's a nice part of the country, lots of good hacking I imagine.

It followed the same route as the Dengie ride, but was organised by R.A.B.I. dont ask me what it stands for.

and thank you, i think she is gorgeous too but i am biased.

I couldnt beleive how relaxed and chilled out she was, we rode around the route with spaghetti reins, i think i can honestly say we both enjoyed ourselves.

looks can be decieving, that track dipped up and down quite a lot, it was there that she over reached in trot and pulled off her front shoe, but yes it does look like a superb gallop track, there was a lower level to the sea walls, that photo was taken on the middle level, further back which was nice and level and we did canter on it, hence no photos. lol

well you know how it is When someone tells you not to do something, you gotta do it.

Yups i am shocked and disgusted, to think it was done by someone we both know and thought was old enough to know better and to be honest, we both thought she would never do something ever so disgusting as that, poor horse. The only good thing is that now he will always be looked after and wont ever know another days cruelty or hunger.

What a fab looking ride!

We did ours this weekend and it was a bit of a disaster as we went with a couple of novices, thankfully we normally go just as a family and we do love pleasure rides.

about 30 i suppose, we all set off at different times, so was hard to judge. Weather was great, and we all had a lovely time. Deffo gonna do more.
