Its the first time in a month, since she came in hopping lame with her arthritis, and i hadn't dared to get on her. The vet said i could try taking her out at a gentle walk and see how she got on, but warned me to not to expect much.

Unfortunately, she didn't explain this to Ella. We went out with my friend and her (mostly) sensible WB boy. E walked out beautifully to start with, she was a bit "looky" at the usual spooky things, but the terrifying piece of ironwork that has been scaring her witless for the last three months is apparently no longer scary

She was brilliant all through the fields, and when we got to a nice big inviting slope, she started bouncing around, cantering on the spot :eek::eek:. She jogged all the way round the big field, with me vainly trying to settle her down and make her walk calmly, and then she jogged all the way back to the path back up to the yard. She then walked like a donkey back up the path, with me holding my reins at the buckle.

To be honest, she was actually MORE forward-going today than at any time since I first tried her. I suspect she's been in discomfort from that arthritis for a long time, but plainly the joint supplement and the Danilon are really helping her now. I'm not counting my chickens - she may turn up hopping lame tomorrow - but its given me a teeny weeny bit of hope.

Good luck! She is obviously feeling better!

Have you decided to keep her?

My boy did similar the day he was diagnosed with bone spavin, and to WALK for 4 weeks, in straight lines. No-one explained that to him, and I ended up having to jump off as he did a tigger impersonation which I guessed was NOT what the vet had in mind.

Hey, great news.

Can I ask what joint supplement you are using as my boy has ring bone and vet told me to get a joint supplement. I know it's a minefield out there and need something that works...

I use a bit of a cocktail. She has the powdered NAF Superflex (3 scoops of that), plus I added the soluble Superflex as well, because I found it cheaply in a tackshop sale. My vet is meant to be sending me some super-duper high-strength joint supplement, so when i get that through, i'll let you know what its called.
