View Full Version : I'm sorry....

My previous thread got closed and I'm very glad it did. I'm sorry for anything I said that may make people think I'm horrible or mean, it was bad choice of wording on my part:o.

I do want King to be happy, and maybe the other day was indication we need to do something else for awhile like canter work in the indoor with no jumps:). I'm sorry everyone for being so stubborn, I just was having a hard time taking all the advice/bad mouthing at the same time. The advice I got I AM going to use and will be asking my RI/barn owner about his saddle when she comes home from Indiana(shes been gone 4 days), else I would have asked her what was wrong with him that day.

I do want to be a good member of this forum and hope people will forgive me for anything that might have been said and we can just move on from it.

People chose to take how I reprimanded him to their own liking and I'm sorry you think I beat my horse. I don't, I just misworded things and it got out of hand.

So to everyone I'm sorry:o

And do you think comments like this help?
Don't worry about it NR, we all have bad days and it's good to see you're taking it on the chin and taking peoples advice. Best of luck :)

Don't worry NR, I agree with NR!

Good to see you're big enough to apologise and I think most people will understand.

Why don't you go out for a hack (or is it trail ride over there) and have a good ole gallop? That's just as much fun imo!:D

I dislike the word trail ride it sounds so western:rolleyes::p ick lol. Although a hack in my mind means through the countryside, but none the less the word hack just sounds so english:D:rolleyes:. Oh how I wish I could be British:rolleyes:, Instead I'm stuck being Italian:D:p

Hey, don't beat yourself up over it! I am sure you think the world of your horse and tbh we probably have all said/done things that we wish we hadn't! The trouble is people are very quick to 'jump' on anyone who strays from the 'path'. I didn't even read all the original thread as I knew it would end in a "bashing". I for one enjoy your posts and don't think any the worse of you! And of course my opinion is extremely valid! :p  ;)

Hi,

Dont worry about it, intonation and emotion are so hard to put across in text things are bound to get misunderstood every now and again :)

Incidentally, your initials being NR is muchly confusing as that is also the forum shorthand for New Rider!! You arent alone though, someone on here has OP as their intials which is also Original Poster - my little brain cant keep up and gets somewhat confuddled! Probably just me though so I wouldnt worry about that either! :p

Hey there

I missed your thread due to a very busy weekend, but whatever's happened you've apologised so I'm sure no harm done. :)

Go back to the thread though and have a look at the proper advice - there's some cracking advice been given :)

I know, and I'm gonna start doing some flat work with him:). I was being stubborn about taking advice because I knew I needed work and being told so was well err..not what I wanted to hear:rolleyes::o but it was for the best, because that thread made me realize I've been pushing myself riding wise and I need to take things slow:)

I did want to mention though that King is 11yrs old he isn't a broke horse, just clearing that up:)

That's good :)

Please get someone to look at his saddle though. You say the saddle has fitted ok with his previous owner but horses change shape - as they develop muscle, as they get fat over summer, as they lose weight over winter, as they lose weight due to getting fit. What may have fitted him a few months ago might not now. It looks to me like it is too far forwards, there isn't enough clearance at the withers and it pinches. Have a look at my thread - http://www.newrider.com/forum/showthread.php?t=201659&highlight=saddle and compare the fitting of your saddle to this one. This saddle is too tight - but only just. Only just but I am still not going to use it.

Another thing I mentioned was that your saddle looks like a dressage saddle (very flat) which will be difficult to jump in. Have you considered getting a general purpose saddle that has knee rolls for jumping but is suitable for flatwork too? Like this:

Good luck :)

I noticed you mentioned that sorry I never replied to that, the saddle I'm using at the moment is a flat work saddle and tbh the saddle looked different on him when all this too place than it did even the few days before but maybe it's just my eyes:rolleyes:. Like I also said I test rode the Wintec 2000 in one of my vids and he seemed to really be wonderful under that one. Whats the saddle you have the pic of? It looks splendid:D.

I forgot to add an A to the sentence about him being broke because I said "he isn't broke" or something to that affect, when I meant to say he isn't a "just broke" horse lol no one noticed*hush hush*

It looks like a 500 except the seat is a ton higher in the back then the 500. I used to ride in the 500 and everytime I had a big post my butt would get smacked by the seat lol

My Wintec 500 had a low back, but my friends 500 had a high back - some of them are different heights.

Either a Wintec 500 or a Thorowgood saddle would be best as these have interchangebale gullet sizes.

Well I just learned something then. Thought the synthetics were pretty much the same which is why they are fairly cheap:o

No, they're cheap because they dont use leather, just fabric.

Well done for apologising (didnt even read your thread) but I know how easy it is to get defensive when you've asked for advice but all you feel like you get is criticism (been there-done that) people mean well on here!!

Good luck with King (and your saddle!)

I can vouch for this - I have been shot down in flames more times than I have had hot dinners!!! (a lot of it was my own fault though!!)

Why do you think it says Reformed Character under my user name??

It was big of you to apologise. Hope all goes well with King.:)

If your getting a changeable gullet synthetic thorowgoods are the better of the makes. Fit more of a variety of horses than wintecs do.

Glad your getting things sorted :)

Good Luck and remember to update us!!

Tbh, I haven't gone out to the barn since that day. I'm actually afraid he won't trust me anymore or will try to hurt me even worse this time:o.

How do you expect to make friends with him if you don't spend any time with him? you should try some groundwork exersizes to build a bond with him, let him know you're his leader etc.

So do I, NR, I am a full livery too and my yard is 12 miles away from my home, but I still manage to get down most days..... The thoughts that you have about not trusting him not to hurt you are daft, to be honest - you need to put them out of your mind and start spending time with him - even if you're not riding. In fact, I would knock the riding on the head for a little while and do some groundwork, grooming, in-hand leading - whatever. This way, you will come to totally trust each other.
