Hi all

Thought I'd introduce myself as I've only just signed up to NR. I'm on a few other forums, may know some of you from elsewhere, so though I'd see what this one's all about too :)

My names Soph, clearly :D I'm 21 and live in Essex. I've been riding since the age of three, have a degree in Equine Studies and have had various horses and ponies... erm... what else? I'm a photographer and run a nationwide event photography company called Big Image Photography Ltd.

My latest four legged friend, and what I hope will be my horse of a lifetime/forever horse, is Freddie. Fred's a 4yo, 14.2hh traditional coloured, bred by gypsys. He's been moved about quite a bit over his 4yrs and I bought him from Suffolk show pony producers, the Harrisons, 5 months ago. We've had ups and downs and I suffer from massive confidence crisises and 'hacknaphobia' on a regular basis, but we're getting there...
I bought him mainly to show at as high a level as we can manage (although work gets in the way at the moment) but would like to do a bit of everything with him and have him grow to be a real allround 'take you anywhere' type.

Some photos of Fredders...

Differences from when I got him to more recently...

Sorry for the photo overload on my first post... as you can see, I'm a smitten Mummy! :p

So enough about us, tell me about you! :)

Hiya and welcome :) We're a friendly bunch here and piccies are a great way to start off as we love 'em....

I luff your boy. I used to have Cherry (18 now)...

And I also had Ludo at the same time from the age of around 8m to 2 yrs as he is in this pic...

However, for the past year, I have had Roo, who's a Weatherby's registered Irish TB ex point-to-pointer, 14. I always said I'd never have a TB but I'm smitten with him, although I think if I'm ever lucky enough to have another, I'll go back to the feathered cob as they're my true loves.

Hi Soph and welcome to NR, im from essex as well ;). Fred looks gorgeous and what a change from when you first got him, looks like you've done alot of work with him. I live on a big and busy livery yard where i work and keep my 4 thoroughbred's. Ive got Henry who is loaned out, Blitzen who has just gone out on loan to a lovely lady who is gonna bring him on as he's only 4 and she's also gonna give me some dressage lessons :D, then ive got Bomber who is retired and last but not least Star who im hoping to do dressage with.

I'll attach some pics of the boys the black horse is Blitzen, the bay is Star and if ive got a pic i'll put one on of Bomber and he's chestnut. A word of warning the forum is addictive and everyone loves pics and vids :p

Hi and welcome from another Essex cob lover. Well, mine is a welsh cob, called Seneca, aged 19, and is definitely traditional.

Your horse is lovely.:)

Welcome and oh my he is gorgeous - similar to my hairy boy - used to show coloureds when I lived in England - just happy riding them now - but who knows maybe next year I'll show Ireland what a real coloured horse should look like!!! -

Whoohoo, another one for Essex :p More of a leggy, hairless type myself (although a truly gorgeous, hairy, cute friendly muffincake cob at my yard called Murphy may just change my mind).

Welcome!

Hi and welcome. I ahve a cob but won't post pics (they're probably a couple of pages ago in Café) cos it might cause a riot (I clipped and hogged).

Gorgeous horse you have!

Aww thank you all for the warm welcome. Some really lovely replies...

Loz loves Wills - I'm near Maldon :)

annareeves0 - lol, my friend coined the term. It's what we call my completely irrational, out of the blue, frustrating fear of hacking out. I've been riding 18 years and I'm suddenly scared to walk my angel (sometimes, lol) pony up the road. Madness!

bexc3 - Thank you. A lot of work has gone into him but he has a long way to go. :) He was very poor having been 'rescued' from gypsys and then being gelded, when I got him, so a lot of it is just tlc and a good meal. He's growing so much every month at the mo and is a tryer so is doing well do far. I'm planning on sending him for schooling at the end of autumn, just to help us enter the winter on a good note.

Heucherella - many hours graft and lots of elbow grease!! If you find an easier way please let me know. ;)

Thank you for the lovely comments on my special cow pony :) I look forward to getting to know you all.

We rescued two cobs from gypsy's Soph, best thing we ever did. One unfortunately had to be put to sleep at 5 years old, we'd had them since they were 18 months old but James, the one we had put down, had irreversible liver damage and there was nothing we could do for him :(. I suspect it must been something to do with his bad start but Buccaneer, his half brother, is now 12 and the most trustworthy, reliable and versitile horses we have. They really do make lovely horses once they've been given some time and correct feeding and your boy is a credit to you.

Vicky how comes your boy had to be retired, he's gorgeous and look at the beautiful mane. x
