View Full Version : My darling girl is home :(

I picked up my Princess' ashes from the vets today.

I was upset that i didn't like her casket - Its wicker, she looks like garden furniture :(

Boyfriends dad is an undertaker so im going to see if he knows anyone who could make me a nice mahogany one with a brass plaque. I want a fitting resting place for my baby girl.

Still not sunk in that she's gone.

My thoughts are with you,

My freind has her pony in a nice wooden one with a Brass plate, she kept her in her car for weeks but now she lives on the dining table in her home:)

Maybe there are some speacialist place where they have them shaped like a horse? x

Thanks :) Im glad I know where she is now.
I got a lovely card from my vet with a painting of a horse that has the exact same markings as Curly (i dont know if thats a coincidence or not but if it is its very spooky).

I have chosen an artist to get a big painting of her but I need to get the insurance money through to pay for it.

My mums getting an apple tree to plant in the garden where she will eventually be buried but im not ready to let go of her ashes just yet.

*hugs* to you :(

My lovely girl's ashes came home to me too and in a weird way, I found it comforting that she was back home and not by herself anywhere else.

Hope you're okay xxx

Yeah exactly.

We dug up a bit of mud on a bank which was cornered off (as there were lots of apple trees growing) in the field where she used to graze :) and emptied her ashes into the soil so she went away naturally with the earth and it's marked off with a rock and flowers :)

I don't know if this will be any help to you but I got a lovely wooden urn for my cat's ashes from here http://www.poffins.co.uk/
It means a lot to have them in something you will take pleasure in looking at. I wasn't happy with him in the box he came back in either. He was so special to me just as your lovely Curly was to you. All the best x

CurlyWurlyRach,
did the vet not give choice in the casket?
had had a cat cremated some years ago,and hers was the type are describing just pine colour instead of mahogony.

have seen some very un casket like ones for animals-ones that look like animal ornaments and jewellery that are made from the ashes so they're always close to the wearer.

Hiya Rach, I'm sure another casket can be done for you. My boy's is wooden with a brass plaque so I'm sure something similar can be done. I don't have a garden where I am and thought long and hard about what to do with the ashes. In the end I decided to keep the ashes in my house as nobody loved him more than me. It may sound daft but sometimes I do feel that his spirit is nearby, watching over. That's what I like to think anyway. I'm sure Curly will be looking over you.

Big Hugs xx

I think perhaps the basketweave casket is because if you want to bury her then the container is biodegradeable? so sorry that this is hurting you still so much - does get better but she will always be with you wont she?

Put my lovely old mare to rest underneath her favourite 'shady'tree - but the tree in your garden sounds very fitting to me.:)

I'd like to say how much your sad news has affected me, I recognise your name but I don't previously remember much about you and your horse. However, reading your previous thread, I had tears in my eyes.

It's made me appreciate how we should not take any animal for granted and what wonderful creatures horses truly are and how much we can bond with them so quickly.

My condolences go out to you and your family at this tough time.

can you not buy a mahogany one online?? & you can buy the brass plaque and then have that engraved xxx

Will you keep some and have a piece of jewellry made from it? I'm honestly crying here: it's terribly hard at first and for a long time afterwards. I've got Boomerang's shoe in the bedroom.

Big hugs, hunni, hope you find something beautiful for your girl.

Her box is about a foot cubed. Its a upright rectangle. Almost exactly the same as my bedroom bin with a lid on which I think is why i dislike it.

Ive been fine collecting all her stuff and putting it in the garage but I forgot her show numnah which is in a bag in the porch - pulled the bag open and promptly fell to bits. I knew there'd be something that would set me off. Im tempted to make collage with the saddlecloth as a base and pin some of her tail and some photos to it and then frame the lot for my room at uni - dont want to risk her ashes or her expensive portrait there.

Just reading your posts again and have to say once again, I am so so sorry about Curly.

Like I said, I went through this 5 months ago so know how hard it is. It killed me, and still does.

But if you want to chat at all then feel free, as talking to strangers can work wonders - even if it's for 5 minutes.

You'll be strong again soon, just let yourself grieve... I tried to keep it in and stay strong, but it didn't help xxxx

Glad she is home with you.
I had the same problem with one of my cats ashes, I didnt like the casket.

I found a nice range of caskets on ebay for cats and dogs, not sure if they have anything of the size you want.

I've got my old ponys ashes at home, and it's quite comforting.

I hope you can find a nice casket.
