well basically ive been having a really long think about why my horse is refusing at spreads. I thought it was just spreads in general, but then i started to think about when it was happening. And obviously he doesnt stop at every spread- it would be easy then! but its when its a double, with the spread going in, or a distance of 4 strides or soemthing like that. I think it possibly cuold be because hes worried about making the distance- hes very good at measuring his distance, but has a short stride so often has to reach for the fence- maybe hes worrying about it? possibly something happened in the past, but dont know!
Im still going to have his back checked, vet out and go back to basics just to build confidence, but does anyone have any really good exercises to help improve confidence over doubles, im thinking say 4 x poles then a spread out? all on a perfect stride for him?
Also i think i need to practice doubles A LOT more at home with the spread first, as althoguh i do doubles, generally its upright, spread.
Any other exercises etc. would be appreciated so so much! like a HUGE amount! as i really want to get it right again!
Thanks :)

Just to show he does jump spreads on their own:
