I think (although I'm no expert) that it was a Victorian fashion to have your deceased horse's hooves made into snuff boxes, inkwells etc etc - as such their value/attraction is probably as antiques as opposed to anything else. Not to my taste and I'm not sure it's something that I'd want done myself but it's an interesting little insight into the past :)

I don't think I would have one myself, but they do look okay. They don't make me go 'eww' anyway.

I imagine they would look strange on anyones mantlepiece! Whatever floats your boat!
I feel hooves look much better when still attached to the horse!

They were popular items back in the day, less so now. Like many things it entirely boils down to personal taste:rolleyes:

Personally not for me.
If Tylers hoofs were used I would need to apply Hoof Moisturiser to keep them going lol. Why o Why does my horse have to habve bad feet lol

I love these. A touching memory of a loved horse.
I have a rocking horse with the tail hair from a much loved old mare. I got the knacker man to skin her tail, I tanned it and used it on my rocking horse.

i think they make nice keepsakes, too :o does that mean i'm a bit wrong in the head? i'd love the idea of angels tootsies on a big oak desk in this massive country estate i'll get on saturday, after winning the euromillions on friday :p

I think I like them!
No surprise they'd do something like that, being a generation that had photographs of their deceased rellies taken, propped up in a chair or lying on a sofa - sometimes they'd appear in the pictures themselves too!

I like the idea of your horses tail on a rocking horse but 'hooves' i would find a bit upsetting. I'd rather my horse was burried in one piece.

i do have some horse hair that's been made into a brooch, my friend snipped a piece of and got it done for me, i'd not have thought of it.
the horse though is in her casket and she still hurts my foot:rolleyes:, when i dropped her that is.
