Why is this still considered entertainment? I was watching Jamie Oliver doing his cooking round America thing the other night, and they showed a rodeo and I couldn't watch. They make me cry.

Yeah amazing whats still seen as entertainment these days... bucking straps are used deliberatley to provoke the animal, what kind of test of manhood is this, more like a test of stupidity and cruelty IMO.

They can be extremely cruel places. Roping has been known to kill the calves being caught - they break their necks. Bulls and horses buck because of an extremely tight strap around their loins, if you are soft hearted don't search youtube for rodeos because there are charities that are trying to bring the cruelty to the public attention on there and it isn't nice viewing...

I'm probably digging a grave for myself saying this, but I find rodeo fascinating to watch. I don't agree with it and how it's practiced, nor do I believe all the hoohah on the various sites stating that the animal's welfare always comes first. But I do enjoy watching the bull riding, especially when the rider hops off then legs it accross the arena with an angry bull in hot pursuit. Can't help but cheer for the bull.

I don't really see the fun in being hopped off the ground/trampled on/gored etc but I suppose each to their own :p obviously don't agree with it though as at worse it's hurting an animal and at best seriously irritating them.

Rodeo is not something I would ever support, I find its playing mind games with animals natural instincts.
