... And by that I mean personal, subtle things that you feel truly grateful for, disregarding "ovious" fortunes such as wealth, having a job, good health, a family etc. It can be a person, an experience, an aspect of the environment you've grown up in ...
Let's see if we can each write down 5 different gratitudes each day for as long as we can (even if it's just 3 days or a week). I am sure that once you get started, they'll all come pouring out ...

I am grateful that whilst so many people have only seen a picture of horse in a magazine, seen a horse in the distance or at petting zoo, I get to share my life with these amazing creatures. This is always reitterated to me when I have friends over to the yard and see how fascinated they are with the horses :)

1. My wonderful, wonderful horse, who gives me so much pleasure every day.
2. Millhouse Animal Sanctuary for letting me have the aforementioned fabulous horse.
3. My great OH who puts up with an awful lot. He brings Tia in / puts her out when I can't get there, and goes to shows with us, as well as mending / making things for us around the yard.
4. Mum and Dad for taking me for riding lessons (30 years ago :o) and allowing me to keep going with it.
5. Supportive friends who have helped and encouraged us over the past few years, especially when we were trying to qualify for HOYS.

Are we talking about just horsey stuff or anything?
I'll do a general one for now and as you have said to discount all the obvious ones these are my 5:)
1) My pony- for helping me get through 2 specific things that have happened to me, and that would otherwise have been devastating, but with the help of my pony they just feel like tiny "blips", and nothing worth worrying about :)
2)My dogs, for a similar reason as above
3)Living in the country-so I can escape whatever's worrying me and have some alone time
4)Being single-personal reasons :)
5)The reason for me wanting to be single- makes me a hell of alot stronger, and makes me appreciate life to the max :)

[QUOTE=~*sugarlump*~;2456572]Are we talking about just horsey stuff or anything?[=QUOTE]
Yes, I do mean anything, but to keep on topic it probably ought to be a mix of horsey & non-horsey things, at least. It can be something you've noticed whioch you never saw/really thought about before, something you've learned or a little action or few words that someone gave you.
My 5 "thank you's" of the day - Tuesday 22/09/09
1) I am thankful that my mum gave me my 1st set of 10 riding lessons on my 11th birthday.
2) I am grateful that I have had to make do without (my own horse, room, car, lessons, money) because it has given me particular values, principles, attitudes and morals that I would probably not have had otherwise. So I am grateful that I have learned to be appreciate every little thing that I am given, that some things really are worth the wait, and never to take anything for granted. my lfie could have been very different if only I were male, born with a health defect, or brought up in a less fortunate place.
3) I am thankful that my parents have trekked me everywhere I have asked them, even when they've had to sit in the pouring rain or wait for hours.
4) I am grateful that today has been a beautiful, sunny & warm but windy day.
5) I am thankful for my dogs - having been through so much abuse, fear & misery at some point in their lives - being so loving & happy & healthy.

I'm grateful for...
1) Horses in general - helped me through so much, specifically my 2 wonderful girls.
2) Z who let me loan Cori with her and are as close as ever now... do everything together and still share the same horse even now our Cori has gone (I'm also used as a babysitting service for her little boy so she got 2 for the price of 1 ;))
3) My mum who does a LOT for me, even though I don't always appreciate it and without her I'd never have been able to loan horses or get to the yard!
4) My friends - who always understand how much horses mean to me and never complain about me turning up a bit late to a meal or party etc. and are really good about it all :)
and finally 5) Just life. Although it is a complete hairy b!tch at times, I have to admit, it's pretty damn good!!!

1. that i was blessed to have shared my life with the most amazing little pony for 14 years. She taught me so much and her loss still leaves a gaping hole in my life.
2. That i went with my gut and kept the scrawny, out of proportion, slightly nutty cob all those years ago. I shall never find another horse like toby, he is my equine soul mate.
3. That i had 2 decades with my grandfather and he saw at least some of my successes (both horsey and non-horsey). He is the reason i have my love of horses.
4. My mum. without her help (both financial and time wise) i couldn't manage with the boys.
5. That i was lucky enough to find a horse (almost) as characterful and adoreable as bonnie. Kez is a fitting person to fill the void left.
