I just wanted to tell everyone how happy i am and how much my perfomance has improved using the Bentley Technique!
My riding is becoming so much more effective and my horse is looking fabulous in just a couple of months using this training system, i definately recommend everyone to at least have a look on the Bentley Technique website! (bentleyequestrian.co.uk):D

Hi Myssd,

I've just had a look at that site, but cannot see what it has to do with natural horsemanship? Can you explain more.

The Bentley Technique is an alternative method of equitation using the horse's natural locomotion and anatomy to gain the best results possible.
It has everything to do with natural horsemanship because of the use of the body by the rider and the encouragement of the horse to carry themselves in a non conventional training style, albeit the technique is not actually termed as a "natural horsemanship" style such as Parelli and TTOUCH i felt that it is a more natural way of riding the horse after experiencing the results it gives ie. encouraging the horse to simply move more effectively in their natural pace without interfering with training aids, using the riders body to help the horse become level and strong in their work.
My definition of natural horsemanship includes those methods which use the natural relationship horse and rider can acheive, the Bentley Technique can do this highly effectively and it needs no artificial input.
It is natural horsemanship to me as it works with the horses musclular and skeletal ability.

Is this Joni Bentley? If so I thought she did the Alexander tecnique.

The Alexander technique helps riders control their own bodies. If we can't do that we can't NOT interfere with the horse. Nothing wrong with that logic.

But from what I can gather Joni is a great fan of Charles de Kunffy, and I imagine he would probably prefer to think of himself as a classical rider rather than a Natural Horseman - if we were being picky ;) ?
