Hello all,

In preparation for winter, I set about doing some DIY yesterday, and thought I would document it for the forum addicts out there.

So I got my drills, and my screws, my extension leads and my wood, and urgh...I suddenly wished I'd listened in woodwork lessons at school...:o

The angles dumbfounded me , so I hung my head in shame and did the cardinal sin. I asked a man for DIY help

So I looked on in awe, and I passed him the drill, and the screws, and the extension lead and the wood. And I took pictures! :D

You'll notice the bottom two rungs aren't angled to the wall - evidence of my earlier failed attempts which left the wood too short to reach all the way across.:o

And the finished product!

So, the cost of this?

Materials: £12.50
Pub lunch: £7.50

TOTAL: £20

If you're wondering where the pub lunch comes into the cost, how does the saying go?

The way to a man's heart is through his stomach...:D

Looks really good, well done to your fella:)

Thats the good thing about us women, we are not affraid to ask for help if we need it:D (not related to haybar building but My man would rather drive around for hours lost than dare ask someone for help lol)

That looks uneccessarily complicated to me :D I've just installed ones like the one pictured in this link http://www.right2remainshoeless.com/html/nutrition.HTM 2 planks of wood (shelves from B&Q) and 2 uprights and 4 screws and we were done. No angles and very little cutting and it all lifts out for cleaning. Even a girl could have done it ;) :D

Well done - but to my eye that looks quite scary and my own horses would get tangled up in that - I have nothing in their stable but a large rubber trug tub for water, anything else is just asking for an accident!

How about gettting a sheet of marine ply and tacking it to the front?
