I am looking to get another horse in the spring. Realistically what are my chances of finding another gem like my current girl? I want a MW 16h plus, 8-12 yrs old horse. Must be totally none spooky, who hacks alone or in company, has brakes and can jump at least 3ft, good to do in all ways. loads and travels well and is a relatively good doer? for £3-3.5K Are they out there?

18 months ago? no chance. now? good chance i reckon. i've seen loads of really great horses out there & been surprised at the prices. im sure more helpful peeps will come back with advert links. good luck! oh one more thing - dont try to compare them to your current one, thats setting it up for failure before you even start! :)

Dunno if such a horse exists! They are out there, just to contradict myself, but I thought I had a bombproof cob: turns out he's terrified of dogs, cats and does 180s if somone puts a lid on the feed bin! You need to do work on any horse to make it safe for your purposes. Was your girl already de-spooked before you bought her? There are some seriously cheap horses on that first website!

To add to Cinammontoast's post (ha it rhymes :o) no horse is ever 100% bombproof. Some are pretty close to being so, but never will be, they are still flight animals - so if you are looking specifically for a horse that's bombproof for a certain reason, then it may take a while to find that horse, as they are quite rare.
Every horse I've rode has been good in traffic but all had their quirks and issues with 1 thing or another :o

My current girl is pretty much bombproof and was when I bought her. (All the things I listed really) A real gem! But no my main concern (After a bad experience, some years ago) is I want a horse i can canter down a woodland track who will not disappear into the undergrowth if it catches sight of a rabbit or bird or strange shaped leaf.

Yeah it can be harder finding that perfect bombproof horse when you've had previous bad experiences out hacking :/
My old Arab used to go nuts if there were ponies in a field next to her as I was hacking up the lane (especially when they were cantering up beside her!) she snort, go hollow-backed, and try and tank off in canter sideways up the lane :o not good with oncoming cars...
Just have a look around and there'll be one suitable I'm sure, good luck :)
