Today was my local riding clubs last show of the season so I decided to take both the boys and do the clear round on Dylan and the 2ft6" working hunter on Otto.
I was really nervous of doing the clear round on Dylan as I tend not to have much control when I jump out and about on him but he was a star! He wasn't too fast, he didn't refuse, he didn't try to duck out/put a dirty stop in he just did a good clear round. I feel really proud of him actually because he has come with his jumping on so much since I first got him.
check out my expression!

I like this one - it's cute! He's pointing his top lip at the jump! :D

I got on Otto and he was a complete pig! :o He had a proper bratty temper tantrum because I wouldn't let him go fast which resulted in him squealing, kicking out, bucking and trying to tank off in the warm up. :o Luckily I was the only one in the warm up so I basically just sat it out and made him maintain the canter when he wanted to drop out.
As usual everything was running way way late and by the time my class was on Otto had had time to chill out and was almost back to normal! I had changed his bit back to a french link but he was rather strong and I had to take some fairly strong pulls so I think we will be going back to his other bit... Anyhew!
He jumped the entire course from canter and cleared it all without looking at anything! We did have to do a couple of handbrake turns as he was going a little faster than was neccasary. :? We came back in to do the show and he did it perfectly - his indiv show was great and in the group ride we did have to put a couple of circles in as he kept trying to overtake the horse in front...but, but, but...........
we came.......
FIRST!!!! not that he looks terribly impressed by it - he wanted that silly thing out of his face!

How chuffed was I?! My first 'first' in a proper competition with a proper number of people in - rather than just say, 3 of us!
Woohoo!!
Then I got told I had qualified for the championships and had to hang around for that. By this time Otto was getting really strong and I had to work hard at keeping him in line. Again he did a good indiv show although struck off on wrong leg to start with. So I got myself a medal for that one too (it was placed to 1st and 2nd and the rest of us got a medal for coming first in the other classes. :)
All in all a really good day and felt really proud of the boys! :D
