My poor friend had to have the vet out last night to her walking disaster of a horse! Bear in mind I've had Twig for the last 4 years and he has never *touch wood* needed the vet. He's a tough little monkey. He's only been lame (as in not quite right, not hopping) a couple of times and once he had a non painful lump on his shoulder which lasted a week and then dissapeared. Not bad for 4 years!!

Now My friend has had Harv 11 months and this is his 3rd major problem! Earlier this year he managed to slice open his leg going through 4 arteries and took vet 2 hours to stitch up. I'd never seen a wound so bad on a horse and was amazed he was ok and hadn't done his tendon. A couple of weeks ago he came in from the field with totally closed eye and conjunctivitis which turned into a corneal ulcer. That's almost fixed now so time for Harv disaster number 3.

Monday morning at 10.30 our usual farrier comes up to trim and shoe the horses. 12.30ish friend left Harv in his stable with a new net of haylage. 7pm, second visit to the yard of the day and Harv's hopping lame on both fronts!! Vet called.

Vets unsure whether he's a little laminitic due to new haylage or if the farriers cut him too short. Poor Harv, he looked so upset and watching him move was horrible. He took Harv's shoes off and put big blue pads on his feel, bless him he looks like he's got moon boots!!

Not very happy with farrier. Don't think we'll be calling him again :(
healing vibes for Harv please
