I think I would still be startled if I came across one in a barrow! Similar to when a mouse jumped out of a rug I was taking down, I'm not affraid of mice but I must admit screaming a little in shock!

Awww it's only diddy! I wonder what sort it was? We sometimes see them out hacking and occasionally in the summer fields, I think it's really special as they're meant to be pretty rare these days. Not great if you're phobic and not something you expect to find in a barrow either! :D

I have to ask did it blink or did it lick its eyelids as you freaked out?
I love reptiles. Looking at the size and colour it is not snake but a slow-worm (a lizard without legs).
I have to mention BTW raingodz I love your sig quote!

I LOVE snakes - pretty unusual to find one 'out and about' in the UK this time of year though, isn't it?
I frequently find them in the water buckets, feed buckets and rain barrel here - but only think I ever saw one in the UK. :)

before running off you should have checked first! lol I wonder how it got in there as I can't imagine it climbing up - maybe a bird dropped it.

JustJas beat me to it... it looks like a slow worm.
I love reptiles and used to have a colony of grass snakes at my old farm.
I had a bridleway through the middle and "adder sanctuary please don't step on the snakes" was very effective at getting walkers to keep their dogs under control.

Lol, I wouldn't have stayed around long enough to take in what
colour it was let alone what type of snake it was:p
I don't sort of mind slow worms but anything else:eek:
However RATS are my biggest phobia, I absolutely loath them.

Is it a Blackadder?! lol, I had a slow worm a bit back and I thought it was a snake! It kind of made me jump, but I quite like them in a way!
