My two have been having Hay for some time, both on restricted grazing and
quite honestly I am running out of Grass anyway.
The Hay I have is absolutely GORGEOUS and quite honestly my two
fat piglets prefer to come back to their 'restricted' bit from the remaining
grass as soon as they see me put the haynets up:eek::D

More to do with time issues, i am due to have my baby in 5days and wnt be able to do anything so its down to my hubby for a few weeks to soly look after her. 1 less thing he can get confused about.

We are lucky we still have grass I suppose it could be due to the fact that we have 12 acres and only 3 horses at the moment.

My field neighbour is feeding hay and has been for a couple of weeks. In contrast I should need to feed hay at all this winter.
Just do what you feel is right because circumstances are different for everyone.
Ideally you don't want the grass to get too short as then it becomes too stressed and also offers little if no protection to the ground in winter and you get mud as a result.

No way am I offering any hay at present. Mine has plenty of grass still and if I manage it right he will have plenty all winter. He is overweight and I am desperate to get the pounds off him.
Guess it depends on your grass situation and circumstances.
