I've just come back from a road trip which included a day in the Peak District, and just wanted to say whoever owns a grey mare with the fluffy black foal in the area, they are GORGEOUS! I spent a nice few minutes saying hello to the foal, who had come to have a look at what was going on, and then he got a bit excited and had a bit of a gallop round the field. I do have a rubbish photo of them but not sure if I am allowed to post it without the owner's permission?

That is all. ;)

I know - I saw hoofprints on a walk I was on and was very jealous! I also went to Norfolk and saw hoofprints on an amazing beach. I want to win the lottery and move there :p

LOL you would need to win the lottery to live there ;) IMO its the best National Park but i am very biased. Glad you enjoyed it though.

Ooh, whereabouts? I pass through the Peaks quite regularly, will keep an eye open :)

It is a fabulous part of the world, although lack of my own transport means I haven't actually ridden there that often. The former trekking centre at Ladybooth near Edale is open again now and offers rides out, I'm tempted! :)

i'm sorry to be horrid, but i have to say that if i was the owner of mare and foal i would not be very happy that someone had posted thier whereabouts on the internet; you dont know who reads these posts.

No one has posted anything revealing. :)
Agree though you must not post pictures without owners permission.

well call me paranoid then ( lol) but the original post has just stated that there is a lovely featherd mare and foal in a field near .... . if i was a horsethief in that part of the country, i would take a mosey over and suss it out.

Every day people post pictures of their horses with their location in their profie. You really are overreacting!

I agree i would be upset to have something such as this posted

well, i have often said in posts , that i am surprized at the amount of detail people post about their horses, but the relevant thing here is that it is one thing to decide to post details about your own horse and its whereabouts, but another to post about someone elses horses whereabouts ( unless it is a welfare issue- when i think the world should know) but, we are all entitled to our own opinion, so i will stick to my original observation, that i wouldnt like someone posting details of my horses on here, and leave it at that. you are entitled to your thoughts too.

I think it's a bit of an over reaction too personally. Horse thieves don't need any help from vague descriptions on internet forums to find horses to steal.

Consider myself embarrassed! :o Think I got a bit overexcited... I am confident that it would have been tricky to find the horses from the area I mentioned (the Peaks are a pretty big place and mentioning the nearest big-ish town isn't going to help anyone) but if even one person feels that it would be enough to help a thief, I don't want to take any chances!

Sorry sorry sorry! :o

now i feel bad about making you feel bad!

As the original post has been edited to remove the location, if you edit yours to do the same then everyone can stop feeling bad when there really isn't any need to ;):D

I wouldn't want anyone posting a location of my ponies, certainly not with photos (which is why I rarely post photos), but to me they're really recognisable. I never drive round the country wondering if I know peoples' horses or recognising them from photos and locations, so I think I'm probably either paranoid about my own or completely oblivious to anyone elses!:o

Yay for little fluffy black foalies though - bet he/she was gorgeous :D And the peak district is a fantastic place to go riding. I live quite close to the pennines and love riding up there, though it does get a tad cool and breezy in the winter!

Is there an edit button on the post? Not sure if it's still on a time limit or not before it disappears. If there isn't an edit button, then if you pm a mod, they can do it for you :)
