but there is something satisfying about seeing the boys well fed, tucked up in cosy rugs, with some gorgeous haylage and having a good bye snort blown at you .
In over night form now on :(, but I have a suspicious feeling Tyler is quite happy about that (he can be such a wimp in cold weather lol).
Had to run back down to the yardto make up tomorrows feeds for YO and check T was warm enough. Apollo was sniffing Tyler over the wall. I have concerns that T is going to teach him bad habits lol. Hamish was busy destroying a treatball. Oh the joy of Shetlands lol.

Yep. so do I.
I have had the four feet planted to the ground for the past week when heading out into the field so decided to let him come in overnight and he was more than happy to oblige. Fingers crossed its cold and dry. Can cope with that, none of this cold and wet stuff!!

Know what you mean when you see a lovely fresh bed it must be more comfortable for them and I think they sleep better once in but ours are still out but mine has a rug on. Wont be too much longer now for me and ours will be coming in.

Mine are staying out! But they look dead cute all fluffed up like furry fluff balls :D
They hate stables which is convenient because I don't much like mucking out!!

This will be the first winter that mine is going to be out 24/7. To be honest I don't think she'd thank you for a stable now although she does wait at the gate for her tea. My problem is although I do my poo picking daily I really miss mucking out, I used to get great satisfaction (it's my OCD again) from making a nice new fluffy bed for her and a nice clean field just isn't the same.

I've always been a great fan of them living out 24/7/365 but in the past couple of years I have seen horses that love to be in.
My 2 wouldn't thank me for being bought in but plenty of others would.
I'm glad mine like being out as it suits me as much as it does them. I'd have to move yards if either of them needed to be in for any reason so I hope they continue to like being out. :o

Thats where my two have the best of both worlds and WHY I moved yards.
They can please themselves, there is a stable with a lush straw bed all
made up so that they can go in and out as they please.
Last week I caught them both laying down together in the stable, how cute;):D
Neither rugged yet though and hopefully it will stay that way.

My boy lives out and he's happy to do so, but I learnt from last winter when I occassionally stabled him when the weather was particularly miserable, if he was in for two consecutive nights, by the third night he would be waiting at the gate and giving it a good bang with his front foot with a clear message 'Dinner and Bed NOW PLEASE'
This year he's out full time and happy as a pig in muck. There is much more shelter in his new field that the one he was in last winter.

I was worried Izzy would hate being in overnight as he was out 24/7 at the rescue. But he loves coming in, having his tea and his hay. I know he'd be okay out 24/7 but I do like him all warm and safe (totally soppy I know).
I went to bring him in to ride yesterday with some other girls at about 2.30. I was so chuffed when he cantered down to me as soon as I called and none of the other girls horses came to their calls. They thought he was so good - but I know that he was just thinking about his tea and his stable!

mines loves out 24/7 365.
i get the trotting up to the gate when i arrive, but its food and adlib hay in the field and out you go.
I do give in on the very very horrible nights of driving rain and wind though. That cant be nice to be standing in. But just cold weather is fine.

Ours love coming in at night - even in summer! They are both institutionalised and particularly our tb - would not know how to cope being out 24/7. I do my best for them and they never look particularly stressed about being in! Joe positively relishes his night net and being in his box, you know he's happy when his ears are splayed! hehehehe. Of course they all get their noses kissed and a good night story EVERY night too.........
