Just a quick post to let anyone who was interested (or remembers lol) know that I am finally picking up new horse tomorrow.

Well I am supposed to be picking him up,bearing in mind he hasn't travelled from the farm he lives on since he was bought and went there at 4 months old (now 3.5 years old),who knows if he is even going to load lol:eek::D

Well we shall see I guess, wish me luck folks and yes I will get pics!! Well I will if he loads in time for it to be still light when I get home;):p

Oh I wondered what was happening.

I bet he WILL load. He will have forgotton his first experience, take him on
as though you are not expecting him NOT to go on, probably curiousity will
get the better of him, I know it did with Sioned.;)

Hope everything goes OK, don't forget the CAMERA, lol. Have Fun:p

Thanks peeps, fingers crossed I can post tomorrow saying I got him home lol

FL-I have no reason to think he won't load as such,is just that he has only travelled once in his life, and that was 3 years ago when he came to where he is now!! Has never even been outside the gates of the farm he lives on,on his own 4 feet, never mind on wheels:eek::p

Oh well I guess he either will or he won't,will try all the tricks I know, but won't force him if he's really unhappy.I hate travelling horses at the best of times, and as I have to bring this one from Cornwall to Devon,am certainly not going to risk him being really stressed all that way!!

Am borrowing my friends lorry rather than use my trailer,as at least that will be a smoother and safer ride for him,and after what happened with my filly just a couple of weeks ago due to trailer accident, not sure my nerves could take the worry TBH.

Must check batteries in camera as well, don't want to end the day by getting lynched by you lot:p:D

oh blimey, yeah, a lorry will be better than the trailer. Look on the fact that he hasn't done anything as a plus, it also means
he has not had any BAD experiences, and therefore knows no different.

I am a 'very nervous' traveller of Horses, OMG I hate it. Bringing Morse and then Sioned back
from Wales I was the worst passenger ever. I absolutely hate it.

I remember the last set of lights, just along from the Farm, turning to Red, as we approached, and I started shouting at J, who was driving, 'WHY DID YOU STOP, we could have got thro' them':p (um........they were 'RED'):D

LUCKILY, she understood that it was 'NERVES' and I wasn't really angry with her, lol.

Hope everything goes OK:)

Ok first off,all angry pitch fork wielding people please count to ten and calm down,as I'm afraid I don't have any pics as yet *runs and hides*:o:p

Sorry peeps, was getting late by the time we were done introducing boy's,sorting out fencing etc,and had to get my friends lorry back to her and pick up our landy, has been a very, very long day!!

I am going to spend the day with him tomorrow though so never fear, pics will be here!!

Well he travelled fine, once we were moving anyway. The loading part was a bit frantic though to say the least!!

He was reluctant to go on,but to be fair he's never loaded onto anything before that he would remember anyway (last time he travelled he was so young they picked him up and lifted him on:eek:).Was so funny,he was desperate to get the food at the top of the ramp, but really couldn't bring himself to step onto it!! Once he had his front feet on it he did walk straight up which surprised me,but when my OH went to close the partition and shut him in,he went mad with panic bless him.
I was outside the lorry, and all I could see was the whole damn thing rocking from side to side,I was ready at that point to say,"never mind, you can keep him"!! Not that I blame him,I just had visions of having to travel from one county to the next in that fashion, think I would have had a cardiac TBH!!

Luckily when we actually started moving he calmed right down.In fact I actually didn't hear a peep from him all the way home, stood good as gold the whole time, and walked off perfectly nicely. Was very sweated up,but other than that seemed ok,and far more calm than when we left!!

Had planned to leave them seperated for a day or two, until my doofus fell pony went through the leccy fence:rolleyes: So they hooned around like idiots until we could fix fence and seperate them again.Managed to keep them seperate now I think, which will do for a day or two for worming, and until calm down a bit, both seem quite happy with each other so far,so fingers crossed they get on.He's actually very sweet natured, and very gentle, just a little wary of so many new things, but he has led a very sheltered life bless him.

So all in all could have been worse, although am very glad I took my friends lorry, even if it did mean a lot more running around for us,as if I had seen my trailer rocking around like the lorry was when he was having a 'moment' I would have been leaving him where he was!!

He's home, and seems none the worse for his 'scary' experience,so hopefully all will still be well when I go down tomorrow.I will be taking the camera of course;):D
