as in the title; its halloween- just the day to hear of your opinions of the existance of "ghosts". have you seen, felt, sensed "ghosts" , have stories to tell of living in haunted houses, or encounters of any kind , has your animals seen or sensesd "ghosts" even if you didnt. me , definately yes, loads of encounters, thought about training as a medium, and have sat in seances, done loads of workshops on the subject etc. . have had lovely experiences --have only ever felt scared once, and that was in broad daylight on a sunday morning in wiltshire. i had never been in the area before, and had got slightly lost; i was driving along this road down a hill, and suddenly as i went past these big gateposts, i had such a feeling of dread, all the hairs on my entire body stood on end, i felt nauseous, and i admit i was frightened. i felt that i was being watched by something evil, and i knew the very instant when it , whatever it was, was in the car with me, and it was with me for a mile or so, until i got to the village of laycock. and i then went on to the sale a few miles further on, and when i left there, i looked at the map , and i purposely turned in the other direction, as there was no way i was going back up that route again, but, being the crappy driver that i am, the road looped or i took a wrong turn, and as i was going along i felt that it looked a bit familiar, but didnt twig on, as i was seeing things from the other side of the road, and then as i started up a hilll, the alful feeling was with me again, and sure enough it stayed with me up the hill, and there were the gateposts, this time on the other side of the road, and then the feeling left me soon after, but this time i did slow to get the name which was written on the gatepost, and i found my way home. so, when i got home later that afternoon, i did some research on the internet, and contacted haunted wiltshire or something similar, and looking at the map, was able to back up with info, exactly where i was, and the name of the gateposts, which was what i thought was spy park. and to my amazement i got a very long email back. it was a very well known haunted spot, and a lot of research had been done there, lots of sightings, etc ( i had slightly different visions of what it was, but the feeling of intense evil was the same in all reports) and a few years ago the stately home at the bottom of the drive had been opened as an international conference center, but had closed after a year, as no one could stay there, it was so disturbed! well what an experience- one that will stay with me forver! but to end, my whole family are phsycic, so i grew up with this belief, and i have many lovely experiences. i will also post later to tell one about when my horse died, but hope to hear some of your encounters first!

I certainly believe in spooky (I use that term loosley!) spiritual things! Just to keep it on topic with the horses - the first yard I was on really used to spook me at night sometimes, one particular evening (I was always last on yard) I could have sworn there was something or somebody near the school - I got a really strange feeling about it - thankfully OH was with me. It turned out to be nothing in the end, as OH and I approached it and it was nothing more than a bucket balanced on some bales of shavings! BUT, I do think the horses sensed something that night as they were both really edgy (but perhaps it was me they were picking up on?) Anyway, thats as far as it goes with spooky things so far near the horses!
But, I have had several "experiences" and know of OH having some too. When his father passed away a long time ago (poor chap was only 50) of course the whole family were devastated. I used to spend a lot of time with his parents and it affected us all. But one evening his sister had a strange experience. She came home from work and was dropped off by a friend outside their family home. All was in darknesss (as it would be - as we were all out at work ourselves). Then, as she put her key into the lock, the hall light came on and the kitchen light. I like to think that it was her Dad lighting the way for her somehow - as she really sensed something spiritual that night. I thought it was rather nice.
At my nans house where I spent a lot of my childhood I remember being "followed" up the stairs bya shadow and smelling pipe smoke / tobacco. I remember mentioning it to my nan who calmly informed me it was the previous occupant. He didn't bother her, so he didn't bother me, I felt quite comforted actually - he meant us no harm. He simply used to follow us up the stairs at night.
I once sensed something bad at Salmesbury Hall many years ago. Was having a family day out with parents and I really freaked in this one tiny room. Mum felt it too, we both felt dizzy and sick. We hadn't bought a guide book (Dad being too tight fisted lol!) but afterwards we had a chat with a tour guide and she told us the room had been a terrible scene of murder and despair. I really do think that the walls had picked up and abosrbed the atmosphere. Funny how Dad felt nothing - he must not have been sensitive to it like me and mUm.
Anyway, hope to hear more ghostly tales from you all........

Much of my experiences have been associated with nursing homes, and occurred regardless of the hour. Unexpected cold areas (heating was always on as expected), strong smell of scent, lavender or rose in particular, and at night bumps and doors slamming - which always had me running to see who was wandering the corridors [possibly hurt]. Never found anything to explain the noises. Shadows or areas of light (hard to explain, like a fog of light?) were seen from time to time - and often occurred around the time someone die. I always sat with those 'passing', hated to think someone miight make that journey alone, and I can say here there was often a very peaceful feeling in the room.
Never saw or felt anything truly frightening, but did feel wrong-uncomfortable-...not right in certain rooms or areas.

I know plenty of people who have experienced things.
I am a firm believer.
My sister was at her mother-in-laws old tudor cottage and whilst in bed noticed a dark figure moving across the room into the small door that entered the attic.
Also, lights in that same house would turn off and on by their own accord.
My sister also has a friend who lives in an old cottage and there is a ghost of a little girl. They see her standing at the top of the stairs and find her hairs in the sink which are long and blonde just like the little girl has.
I used to work for a solicitor who lived in an old norman house who said the plugs would be pulled out of the wall and it was not him doing it!
I also had a friend who's dad was a vicar. They lived in rather splendid vicarages (old one's) and she has experienced numerous things. She has seen children playing in the garden in old fashioned clothes then they would simply disappear.
Her dog would watch the ceiling and move it's head along as if it was watching or hearing footsteps above when no one was upstairs at the time.
She also had items disappear from her kitchen (i.e. tea and sugar tins) only to suddenly return days later. This was at her house she now lives in not the vicarage.
She also says she has seen a dark figure in her house and believes that whatever was at the vicarage followed her (like a poltergeist).
I have also experience someone pressing down on me whilst in bed (this was when I was younger). It made it hard for me to breath.
My son has seen ORBS in our house on the same evening that our dog was acting very strange and did not want to stay in the house. Would not settle. Kept getting up walking around and wanting to go out. I think that whatever that was was just passing through as we have never experienced anything else.
Oooohhh I love ghost stories.
Please keep them coming guys and sorry this was so long.

Was on holiday in France with OH many years ago, daughter was 9 months. Stayed in little ancient gite, looked like it was the cart lodge to chateaux. Was October, but still warm, so at night daughter only had a light blanket on her cot. She was a restless sleeper, would often kickoff blankets etc (was in room next to ours), to the extent she'd then wake up cold (this was before baby sleep bags!!). After a few days or so she stopped waking us up, and was happy and warm in the am, blankets tucked in rightunder mattress. I assumed it was OH, so didn't comment. It wasn't until last day that I said something about her sleeping all the way through, he said we should buy the large French cot blankets like there were at the gite.....and then said he thought I'D been tucking her in!!
No hint of anything there, no noise, smell, feeling. Just something tucking our baby up at night. Thought that was lovely. Never went back though!

I have another one to tell, it didn't happen to me, but my OH's best buddie, many years ago (when we were all out galavanting and dating loads of people!!!).
OH's friend made a date with a girl he met down the pub and went to her house to pick her up one Saturday night. When he got there, her parents were out and she was still getting ready. (Like you do). Anyway, whilst waiting he wandered into the front room and over the fire they had a mirror. He reckons he saw a girl's face in it! His immediate reaction was that his date had come down the stairs without him hearing. He turned around and there was nobody there. Then, the mirror fell off slightly (went askew really). His date finally came down the stairs ready to go out and he told her what had happened. She calmy informed him it would be her dead sister who always "checks out" any potential visitors.......
He got a bad feeling and didn't see her again - don't know if it creeped him out more than he let on...........

Oh and I really do not like OH's parents house - even before his DAd passed away there, it creeped me out. I used to often be alone there (I was like part of their family for years before we moved in together) and I often used to be there in bed of a morning if I'd a day off college etc. I used to get the most awful feeling of despair - can't explain why,but it used to make me feel like I simply had to get out of the house!!!
I didn't feel it when everybody was home, just when I was alone. Its not even a particularly old property! I just get the feeling that perhaps somebody lived there at some point who really wasn't happy? And the house absorbed their feelings?

Just another ghosty type thought - I often dream about loved ones that have passed away and it really does comfort me, I never get bad feelings about them, I usually feel a lot better.

This is possibly more weird than spooky (and long!), but a few months ago I took one of the ponies out for a walk, somewhere I haven't been for years but used to go regularly.
All was fine, including walking down the main road, passing lots of "scary" things, until we were partway down a very quiet, single lane track with fields on either side and that only leads to a few farms and a golf course. At this point, pony starts freaking out, pulling away, being very jumpy and stressy and ending up trotting on the spot, snorting. I didn't think anything more of it as he settled after a few minutes once we'd turned off that road. It was part of a circular route, so we didn't go that way again on the way home.
A couple of weeks later I took one of the others out. He's a pony I've had for years - very super sensible, not prone to spooking at all and the only thing he reacts to is dogs. I used to walk him out everywhere, so he's seen everything there is to see. Again, got to the same bit of road and he went from being really relaxed to being really on his toes - just not like him at all. Very nervous, very spooky, but relaxed after turning off the road. Again, did a circular route, so went a different way home.
Few weeks later again and I rode my other pony out the same way. Boxed him to just down the road, got on, nearly got run over by a car doing about 60mph past us (didn't even blink), then got to this bit of road and he flipped. Seriously flipped. To the point that I bailed out, wondering if I was going to manage to land on my feet. Walked him for a while, got back on when he chilled out (guess what - just after we turned off the road), and had a lovely couple of hours hack. Coming back, he was tired and really relaxed, got to the road from the other direction - he went from totally chilled out to prancing, snorting, raving nutter in the space of 2 strides! I got off again, led him down the road, he chilled out at the same spot where he'd started playing up on the way there.
No idea what on earth is there. I can't feel anything at all, and they weren't reacting to me as I genuinely didn't have any expectations of that kind of behaviour. In fact, I only realised after B's playing up in the same place on the way home that it had been exactly the same stretch of road that had spooked them all, totally independently, over a period of a few weeks. All I can say is that in all the time I've handled them, I've never had any of them react like that in any other situation without me knowing exactly what has caused it. It's the kind of behaviour I'd expect if they were being chased by a dog or something - fearful rather than excited.
Not been back since, but I'll have to try it out again and see what happens!!

twersers, always trust your feelings- if you dream about your loved ones, or are thinking of them, it is because they are there with you. i often feel as if someone touches my cheek or my hair, and it is ussually when i am thinking of my nan. portia and claire- am loving all your stories, have had so many similar happen to me-- more please everyone!! one of the things that happens to me is that it feels as if someone is sitting on the edge of the bed when i'm in it, so the mattress goes down on one side, and the blankets feel tighter to that spot- that used to worry me before i started to learn more about the subject. heres another one - we lived in a house about fifteen years ago and i used to wake up in the middle of the night with a group of people sitting around me, , seen very clearly, and then fading, and i used to convince myself that i was dreaming, and try to turn on the lamp , but the light wouldnt turn on, and i could then walk over to the lightswitch to turn the overhead light on but it wouldnt work either. this happened often for weeks weeks, and later on my little son who would be about 8 at the time, said that he didnt like those people watching him when he was in bed.. anyway, we moved from that house, and a couple of years later i did a physic artist workshop and readings, where a medium worked with a physic artist so that she drew the person the medium was in contact with, and i could feel the build up of energy around me, and the medium said she had someone for me, and low and behold, the face the artist drew was the lady who was the leader of the group who watched over us when we slept- i recognised her instantly!...amazing. another one is when my old dog had a massive siezure and i had the vet come to my house to put him to sleep, because he obviuosly would not recover, and was in great distress, anyway after the vet came, i went to the field to feed my guys, and i could feel my dog robbie, in the car with me, and anyway the horse really knew something was up- didnt want to get near me at all, and very spooked. came home and cooked tea, and sat on the sofa to eat it, as i do, and low and behold, i saw the bottom half, well, about 2/3 of him really , of robbie walk through the dining room on in to the living room to sit near me next to the sofa, as he always did do. and heres one that my grandfather swore to- there was an old man who had land adjoining his, and he often used to lean over the orchard gate, and talk to my grandfather as he came up from the cowsheds, and he had not been there for a while as he had been ill for several monthes. anyway one evening , my gramp came back up, quite late, from haymaking, and he was surprized to see this old man leaning over the gate, and asked him how he was etc. the man said that he had been ill for quite some time, but he felt much better now, and they had chat for a while, and my gramp came home and told my nan that he had stopped to have a chat with .... who was out and about again, and feeling much better, whereby my nan told him he was a silly old fool, because... had died that afternoon!

oooh - this is just up my street - really do believe in a lot of this stuff and fascinated by your storys:) Was a bit reluctant to add one of mine but seeing as we are all a little 'odd' shall go ahead;)
About 15 years ago when I still lived in Norfolk I was hacking out along a very long bridleway with stubble fields either side and a long flat view into the distance. Way of up the end of the bridleway I could see what looked like a bonfire burning at the edge of the track, just alongside the stubble field, could also see what looked like some sort of large flat bed trailer parked on the track, with several men loading 'stuff' with pitchforks onto this trailer thing.
As I gradually got nearer - all the time hoping Peggy would have room to shuffle past without going up the bank and not spook at the fire/smoke - I could see more clearly that it was like an old fashioned horse drawn farm vehicle and that the men where dressed in smocks and old gaiters etc. and were loading hay onto the cart and throwing rough old weedy stuff onto the bonfire:confused:
No horse with the cart which in itself was odd - and started to feel slightly uneasy and TBH a bit confused at what I was seeing. Peggy (contrary to all that we here about animals reacting) just plodded on totally unphased!
By the time I was within - say - 100 hundred yards or so - and really starting to feel uneasy and spooked - the bonfire whooshed up a huge puff of smoke - as I got nearer the smoke cleared and - NOTHING! But at the side of the track there was an area about 3' x 4' that was burnt black! I was really bewildered and rode home at a rather sharp pace!
Told my OH who I think thought I was due to be sectioned under the mental health act! So have told very few people since in case they think Im a total basket case:D
Just to finish - a couple of weeks later I took my border collies for a walk along that track and across the stubble fields. None took absolutely no notice as we walked past (burnt patch still clearly visible) but the oldest one started whimpering and slunk past the spot stuck to my legs like a limpet - and - totally out of character - within a few yards she took off and waited for me about 200 yards further on still looking extremely distressed:confused:
Now I know you dont know me - but I will swear on my lovely ned's and dog's lives that this a true and accurate account of that day:)

Mine is a very positive experience - Our croft house has had a lovely feel about it from day 1, despite being in very poor condition. It is the only place I have ever lived where I have never been afraid of the dark (and it is really dark as we are in the middle of a field). Also when little Lucy first came home as a newborn her musical lights thing used to turn itself on before we got there if she cried in her moses basket in the living room (and it was not a sound activated one) and she would stop crying. Beth also said one day that the nice man in the kitchen tried to pick her up and rock her when she was sad but she said she was not a baby any more (she is 3)!
Whatever it is the feeling is lovely, I don't know whether it makes a difference but the old lady who lived here was a very well loved local character and everyone said (when we first moved in) that she would have been so pleased to see it restored and a young family here again.

I won't be moving in a hurry, thats for certain, yet this house has certainly seem deaths in its history - it was built c.1820 and there was a croft on the site by the 17th century. But the way I think about old houses is that while they have had deaths they have also had births and marriages and all kinds of happy things too.

I used to babysit for a couple who lived in a very old house, it was two cottages knocked into one. Anyway, you'd quite often her footsteps going upstairs only things was, the stairs were no longer there as they were taken out when the cottages were knocked into one house!
Their little girl would also tell us about her little friend called Abbygail who would come and sit on her bed and talk to her - we were like "yeah, right!" so one day I asked what this little girl was wearing - Becky replied "trousers and a dress"..... We thought of the long pants that little girls used to wear and must say it spooked me out more than hearing the foot steps!!

i love hearing all of these stories! more please! just want to tell one more of mine, whic is very close to my heart and not scary at all, its a sad one tho, so i will keep it short. my very first owned horse had a lot of problems and for seven years we had struggles , and i was very close to her indeed; we had a very special bond, she was the horsey love of my life ( i know that sounds weird so i hasten to add, that its that special love you can have for a special animal) the problems, both health and behavioral, just strenthened the bond. she had a tumour in her eye, and we kept the cancer from reaccurring for the seven years, but she eventually got a small tumour on the eyelid of her eye which was removed, but came back again, and i had to make the very sad decision to end her suffering, as her health started to go downhill. on the day that it went ahead, i had to rush off to do exams, and so i was just running on remote control for the entire day, and refusing to allow myself to think or feel anything, just cope with what had to be done. and so when i finally got home i just collapsed on the sofa, totally drained and numb and empty. and i have to tell you at that time i had a answer machine where you record the message in your own voice, and because i hate phone calls disrupting my day, my son disconnects the ringer on the back of our phones , so that i just go through any messages and call people back. anyway, i had just sat on the sofa, totally lost and drained, when suddenly the phone rang and there was a mechanical voice, not my own, which just said one word " goodbye" and hung up. and to this day, i know that it was my horse, to let me know she understood, and to say goodbye.

We have one at the stables, who opens the gate when your leading horses down the track, also on numerous occassions when i'm filling buckets i will forget, go running outside to find the tap turned off with the bucket just below full!!!!
Have had lots of things happen but mainly to do with horses/dogs.(although recently have had a spirit experience while on the phone to a friend about her house) sometimes when i touch horses i get very emotional and sad... and also will get pictures or almost like a video of places people and other animals... when it first happened it really freaked me out. (will tell that story later) but now i just don't worry.
Have to say i don't tell many owners what i pick up.:)

Great stories, keep them coming :)
Here's another one....
My in-laws lived in an old cottage which used to be two knocked into one.
Me and OH stayed there on a few occasions when in-laws were on holiday to look after their cats.
I always felt that we were not alone in the house and did not like being in their at night.
Well my sister-in-law like me believes in ghosts etc so we decided to get her friend who is a medium to look around the house.
Whilst there she said that there is a love letter in the brickwork of one of the fireplaces and that there was a love affair going on with 2 people, one from each of the cottages.
She also said that because of this affair someone was pushed down the stairs and killed by love rival
Also whilst looking around the cottage she said she could see a tall man in black with a black hat standing in the lounge looking out of the window, perhaps waiting for his lover to return.

My stables has become very spooky recently. i'm convinced it's Loki (as it's coming up to a year since he left the world :( ) but the last couple of weeks when I've been mucking out (so all the horses have been out) stable doors have been opening when i'm sure they've been shut, my animalintex went missing then the box of bandages and animalintex fell off a shelf in the stables onto me which is a shelf I can't even reach so know for a fact I didn't put it there and I am the only person on the yard, when the door is shut to lokis old stable banging has been coming from it like a horse kicking the door. Odin returned from work wednesday and the only stable free was Lokis which I haven't touched since Loki was pts. So I mucked it out and put clean bed down etc went to empty wheelbarrow and came back and the neat bed had been dug up spread around etc (as though a horse had rolled) then the last couple of days Odin has been whickering at thecorner of his stable and this morning started donig Loki traits which is freaking me out slightly. For example this morning he was nibbling my pocket which he has never done he then held his front leg up and stretched it out towards me which is a trick I taught Loki when he was on box rest to beg. I have never taught Odin as Loki used to drive me nuts with it. The odd thing was Odin looked really puzzled and kept biting at himself whilst doing it. I gave him a rub went, erm Loki?? and Odin stopped doing everything whickered then started acting like odin again and stamping his feet whilst i rugged up to put him out. I was really freaked out. So much so considered putting him in a different stable tonight

I used to belong to a paranormal/UFO research group and heard some great ghost stories - had very few ghostly encounters myself tho'...
The RS I used to go to years ago in Scotland was supposed to be haunted, most of the 'experiences' where just kids messing, but there was supposed to be a ghost in the house - the RI's boyfriend came round one evening and fell asleep in the living room, he woke up and saw an old man sitting across from him, nodded at him and fell asleep again. When he woke up properly he asked who the old man was ... what old man, there is no old man living here?! Apparently he's been seen several times by the family.
Late one evening a gang of us kids were waiting to be picked up, when we heard a car coming into the yard we all ran out to see who's Dad it was, and as we passed the house myself and another girl shouted "who's that in the kitchen?!" we both saw a dark clad figure in the kitchen (no one was in the house at the time and the kitchen light had been left on)
Another time we were all sitting in the hay barn, the others were all gossiping about something and I turned to look at the house, there was a window high up under the apex of the roof and I could see what looked like someone with blonde curly hair looking out of the window at us - to all intents and purposes it was a child standing on tiptoe peering out of the window - no one else saw it. I was later told that many years ago there had been a fire in the house and two children had died in that room. I tried researching that story but couldn't find anything :(
A girl told me she had some neighbours who had a small son (maybe 4 or 5 years old) you'd hear him in the garden playing with his "invisible friend" all the time, one sunny day his parents could hear him talking away as he was walking along the top of the wall between the gardens ... and there were two shadows being cast on the ground
Someone I worked with said he used to feel someone sitting on the end of his bed at night, when he lived alone.
The research group were going to investigate one story we were told (I didn't get to go tho' :( ) a man told us he lived on a new housing estate and that several people in one corner of the estate used to say they could hear a man singing - it sounded like someone had left a radio on somewhere, but no one ever seemed to have a radio on ... the man said he'd looked into it and the houses had been build on the land around an old farmhouse, which had belonged to a fella who'd been in the local amateur operatic group and he used to rehearse out in the orchard, walking around singing. He found a map of the old farm and overlaid it on a map of the houses and sure enough the orchard had been in the corner where the people could hear the man singing!!

I gave him a rub went, erm Loki?? and Odin stopped doing everything whickered then started acting like odin again and stamping his feet whilst i rugged up to put him out. I was really freaked out. So much so considered putting him in a different stable tonight
That is weird. Kind of comforting tho, perhaps he is just trying to let you know he's thinking of you.:)

i suddenly the phone rang and there was a mechanical voice, not my own, which just said one word " goodbye" and hung up. and to this day, i know that it was my horse, to let me know she understood, and to say goodbye.
That is so comforting. Well, I would have been anyway. What a special thing to happen.:)

I have never really had a ghostly experience and not sure if I believe in them but last night my boyfriend went to bed before me then when I got into bed and was lying there I could feel him lightly stroking my arm through the duvet. After a few seconds I turned over and realised he was fast asleep it and couldn't possibly have been him because of the way he was lying. I definitely wasn't asleep either! Weird.

trewsers, it was one of the best experiences ever. when i took the exams that day, i could feel her walking by the side of me, just that shifting of air currents that you can feel when a horse is close to you but not touching. ( and want to add when i say my son disconnects the ringers, i dont mean switch it off, i mean he takes offf the back and disconnects the wire)

I like the thought that he's still around though my other horses have been acting very oddly. Misty keeps going and calling to the sand school even though all the horses are out in the field. She keeps gonig and standing by Lokis corner (his favourite spot to stand and where he was also pts) and whinnying and the yesterday was getting herself very very anxious and distressed about it and was galloping up and down ad refusing to eat. But all the others were out and she'd been happily grzing then suddenly stuck her head up and trotted to the corner of the school:eek: Odin has also been very jumpy which he isn't usually and 1 of the foals keeps calling and sticking her head in the air as though she's seen or heard another horse

I've had loads of things happen to me over the years... too many to mention all on here, one I remember most though was a few years ago, a close friend of mine died suddenly and I missed her terribly, one night about a month after she died I woke up to someone stroking my face, I lived alone at the time, but I wasn't in the least bit scared, as I sat up in bed I switched my bedside light on and my firend was sitting there right beside me as clear as day, she looked at me and said ' it's ok .. Im ok ... please don't be sad.. I love you ' then she was gone.
I sat for hours that night thinking about what had happened, I'm still not sure it wasn't just my grieving mind playing tricks on me, but it was so real, she seemed so real.. I took enormous comfort from it anyway.
My mums house is definately 'haunted' although it's not an old house we regularily see her 'blue lady' a name my nephew gave her when he was about five that's just stuck, she's been seen of felt by all of our family ( and plenty of visitors ) apart from my Dad, who says were all mad and too imaginative! Maybe she just doesn't like him.

Not really a ghosty story as such, but I often get "feelings" that something is about to happen. Its happened all my life - and sometimes the feelings that I get predict something that is not altogether nice. But, it isn't always bad either. OH dreads me saying I can feel something - he is quite a pessimist (sp)!
Sometimes it can be something as simple as hearing from somebody that we've not seen in a long time (you know, like a phone call out of the blue) but others one that sticks particularly was when a loved one had a stroke - I had a feeling of unease all evening. The attack came out of the blue - and the whole family were shocked. That was not nice, BUT, on that particular evening, something niggled at me not to go out with my friends for a drink - it was only later I realised that it was as well I hadn't had any alcohol as I was the only family member at that time with a car - which was used to ferry people to and from the hospital as and when necessary.

These are brilliant! Getting goosebumps just reading them!
I don't have any spooky stories, unfortunately - although I do often see a mouse or spider running across the pillow when I'm just on the very edge of being asleep and being awake. The other night it was so vivid I jumped out of bed (still half asleep) and turned the light on. The OH thought I'd lost the plot once he'd got over being woken up at 2 in the morning. :o

doorstopper - I really did once have a large spider land on me just as I was dropping off! lol, OH wondered what on earth I was doing, I shot up in bed and put the light on - (he thought I was fussing about nowt!) it was HUGE! hehehehehe.
I think that mouse you see must be your guardian mouse - that sometimes changes shape and makes itself into a spider.........

this isnt spooky, and maybe i shouldnt tell you this, doorstopper, in case you get a phobia about spiders on pillows, but it just reminded me of when we lived in texas, and i had just got in bed, scrunched up the pillow under my head, in the crook of my arm, and saw something dark that moved !obvoiusly, sat up rapidlt and moved pillow, and it was a baby tarantula- you've never seen me move so fast!!!

Loving the spider stories! It's OK lynnemh, I'm not too scared of spiders in real life - only when I'm half asleep. Although it could be another thing altogether with a tarantula

In the early 90s, i had a very good friend who i used to go riding with, and for a few years we did alot of an competitions together.
We eventually went different ways and i never heard from her for about 3 years when i got a letter to say she had to have L--- PTS. After that we lost contact.
About 3 years ago i was driving home from a yard when out of the blue L--- was in my head and talking to me....
He basically told me to tell my friend that she should not blame herself, for having him PTS and was happy where he was, and his leg did not hurt anymore..
Well this really freaked me out, and thought i was going mad, hearing voices etc'
now bearing in mind i had not had any contact with my friend for approx 8/9 years, imagine my surprise when i got a text the next Day..saying that is was
9 years to the day since she had lost L--- and why did it still hurt so much..
i really had no idea what to do now, it's hard to phone someone up and tell them you have had a message from her old horse, but the next day i did phone and told her.
i'm sure you can imagine the emotions let loose by all of this, but, she did tell me that she had blamed herself for all those years for maybe having him PTS to early, and perhaps there was something else she could of done.

Not really spooky but kinda weird, I always have terrible de-ja-vu to the point where I know what people are going to say on more than one occassion this has happened.
A couple of weeks back I even answered my OH's question before he had even said it, he just looked at me and said you really are a bit weird arent you :D
I must say though when one of our cats died for months both me and OH used to swear we would see him out of the corner of our eye, also I used to feel something jump on our bed at night where he used to sleep - not scary though!!
If you want scary I have found a fab website where people have posted their stories a couple are REALLLYYYYY SCARREEYEYYYY

Never saw or felt anything truly frightening, but did feel wrong-uncomfortable-...not right in certain rooms or areas.
as a nurse i have sat with/seen many people passing....some peacefully from illness and at the end of palliative care, some suddenly, some through trauma such as RTA's and in theatre and others when having life support switched off....and in every single case there is always a huge sense of peace and some form of "sign" (often a light)

This happens to me a lot and also to my parents. Mum reckons that because you spend a lot of time with somebody you "tune in" over the years and do have a connection mentally of sorts. OH and I are over being freaked out by it - (we've been together since we were 16:eek::p:D)!!!!

Ive had loads of spooky things hapen to me, after my gran died i always got a scent round me and then i went to a spiritualist and she described my gran perfectly even to the way she sat in her chair watching tv!!!!!!!!!!
My dad dies last year suddenly and he was a complete sceptic but now when im in my flat i get a tapping noise and he always tapped the worktop or the radiator and it used to drive me mad. I think its just his way of saying he is still around. I never ever feel afraid, quite comforted.
Up at my mum and dads house the dog had been seen to stand looking at the driveway towards his car wagging her tail and singing just the same way she welcomed him in everyday after work.
I have got great repect for it all though and would never meddle where im not wanted
