Went to do our two horrors this morning and it was chucking it down, got totally soaked might as well have been wearing a bikini ;) But strangely still enjoyed doing all those daily chores, mucking out haynets etc....
But stood with my boy giving him his carrot in exchange for a cuddle was just perfect, a year ago I would have not believed it.
Soggy and happy

Ah now then Kev - me thinks you are a true 'horse person' weather soon sorts ther wheat from the chaff eh?;) How many of us still enjoy all the stuff even if the weather is crap and stops us riding?
Would still have enjoyed it myself, no matter what, a few years ago - but nowadays has to be clear skys, no wind and definately not a spot of rain:o

If you're strange then I must be too! I love getting the waterproofs on and making sure Maya is fed and cosy! I think it's because its so rewarding :)

I know exactly what you mean, I had a delightful hour down at the yard this morning despite the downpour :)

That is the downside. The other weekend even my pants were wet. My BF who isn't horsey thinks I'm crazy!

I am loaded with the cold but felt the urge to spend 2 hours to muck out stables and feed the boys. Massive sense of satisfaction. I just have to find the Benylin - and quick lol!!

If you're crazy then most of us on here must be cos i know exactly what you mean ;). I jumped out of bed this morning when i heard the rain, threw my waterproofs on and dashed down the field to get Star in. I was greeted by a very soggy horse, although his amigo rug had done a very good job he still didn't look to impressed .
We looked like an advert for horseware between us, me with my rambo coat on and him with his amigo rug and both in the same colour, not intentional i might add lol :o.
But i love going and looking after my boy on wet days like today, there's something satisfactory about putting them in a nice dry stable and putting a nice warm fleece on :)

I just feel guilty doing mine today that they are living out 24/7, so not tuked up in dry cosy stables!
They do have dry cosy shelters however which they don't bother going in. They'd rather look sad & dejeted drowned rats to make me feel guilty!

I do think you are all a tincy wincy bit strange;) My horse was in for the first time last night and I was looking forward to mucking out however. Isnt is strange how even tho some horses have field shelters they choose to stand in the field and get wet. I havent got field shelters but I do find it strange when in the summer when its boiling hot and the flies are buzzing all of our horses prefer to stand in the hot sun rather than in the shade.... what's going on there??

Not strange at all . . . now that our girls have gone to France I find I'm lost w/out a windy field to poo pick, a horse to fuss over and a box to make nice and clean with lots of fluffy shavings.
It's what's galvanized me to do some serious horse hunting.
