Right I'm going to have a bit of a moan here ...............

I've decided Mimi needs a new lightweight rug because

a) she lives out
b) when I went up today she was quite wet underneath (not surprising really with that horrendous rain we had)
c) she has a blanket clip so her neck is clipped out
d) her current Amigo doesn't have any attachments to clip a neck onto.

So I thought I'd get her the next step up Amigo which you can clip a neck onto.

I can find a rug for around £50, but to buy the neck is about an extra £34 :eek:. When you think how little material goes into making the neck as opposed to the rug, it seems completely over the top. I'd have thought they should cost £20 at the most. It makes me so :mad:

I'm trying to find some fantastic website that will give you a free neck cover when you buy the rug, but not having much success at the moment ........ :o

I was having this problem, and decided on Saturday, spur of the moment, with the impending gales and rain predicted she needed one and didnt have time to wait for delivery - I went to the local horse sales, and got a lw turnout and a mw neck for £35! :D Alright the neck and the rug dont match hence price - but I figured Silver would make them match as they will be brown before long :p - was very impressed - and she has been out in torrential rain today and came in totally dry :D so all good!

I'm having the same prob.. I want a normal amigo hood and a insulator hood too. Also have an idea my pony will end up with a neck cover a different colour to his rug if it happens to be cheaper that way lol

but if anyone is interested I have a NEW 5ft 3 Amigo Plus (with hood like a combo) medium 200g fill turnout for sale as i bought a size too small.

Thanks but I've already got a mediumweight with fitted hood, I specifically wanted a lightweight one. Oh well the weather's bucked up a bit now, so I don't feel quite so guilty.

After having boughts loads of different makes of rugs over the internet and ended up keeping them when they didn't really fit and it was too much hassle to send them back, I'm sticking to only Amigos now because I know they really suit Mimi shapewise.

I just think necks on their own are really overpriced, surely they don't cost that much to produce, the design is quite simple. They don't need to cost nearly as much as the rugs themselves :(

I got one in the summer from cybercheckout online for £15. http://www.cybercheckout.co.uk/p-207-amigo-turnout-hood-clearance-free-pp.aspx They also sell stuff on ebay. It was light blue whereas the rug is dark blue but I wasn't bothered and both are mud coloured now! They also had some green or red ones. I don't know why neck rugs are so expensive. Especially horseware ones as the rugs will only take their own brand of neck rugs whereas most other rugs have 3 fastening points (central and each side) the horseware have 2 on each side so you can't mix and match. Just another horsey swizz!

Oh you clever thing :):) I got quite excited until I saw the only sizings they had were XX small, X small and small. Unless they come up really, really, really big .......

Seperate neck covers are seriously overpriced! A while back i bought a saxon lightweight rug (£25) and a seperate neck for £20 which i thought was extortionate.

Then i bought a Bucas Power turnout, got the seperate neck cover and thought i misheard when the shop assistant said the neck cover was £50  cost more for the neck alone than the Saxon rug and neck together:eek: Won't say how much the Bucas rug was.......:p

I paid a tenner for ours from Cybercheckout - its a different colour to the rug but the one that was the same colour was over £30

so two tone is def a fashion statement in our house :D

Ooops sorry I didn't check the sizes!
They had loads of different ones in the summer. I got medium for my 14'2 and large for my 15'2 but med would have been ok for her.
