The barn on my old yard went up in smoke this morning:eek: over 2000 bales of straw, and around the same again in hay:eek:
Luckily, no horses were harmed, the smoke and flames were blown away from the yard.

Horrendous, its amazing how quick they go up, scarey.
On an old Yard I was on, in fact same Yard Cookster was on at the time, I remember arriving with my two boys, done the Horse and said 'I can smell smoke', by the time we actually found it, as the Hay and Straw were stacked in a Barn away from the Yard, it was well alight, by the time the Fire Brigade arrived it was BLAZING.....took about 4 days to finally smoulder out and took the whole barn with it:eek:
Glad to hear all the Horses were OK at your place though.

When I was about 10, someone in my class set light to a hay barn. They got sent to a young offender place I think. They had to evacute loads of houses but luckily no animals or people were hurt.

I remember last year that some lads threatened to burn it down, although they have been evicted from their home (due to anti-social behaviour) and moved out of the area, they still have friends living in the area.
There are 3 tractors at the yard, they have an ancient one, one a couple of years old (now a burnt out shell) and a brand new one. Lucky for the farmer, only one got destroyed, the other 2 were not in the barn.
That barn has been stood for over 50 years.. it took 2 hours to completely destroy it!
The farm owner is in his 80's and was poorly due to a nasty fall the other day:(
