I saw it on teletext. A horse in the Tyne & Wear area was shot by an arrow. It was removed by a vet & the others in the field are ok. Keep a look out folks!

Thats horrible. Thanks for letting us know.

Glad you are still here Artemis. Us NE folk are thinner on the ground these days.

Not far from where I work. My understanding is that it was a crossbow bolt

I'm still here :D

Yep it's horrid. However sadly not that unusual.
:( :(
We have an entire *huge* field we can't use at certain times of the year (school holidays!). When we had cattle in that field (well known and used footpath runs through it into the neighbouring woods, out of site of the rest of the farm) kids used their backsides as rifle targets.:mad::mad:
When youngstock were in there, they thought it was a good idea to try and leap onto the horses backs, (yearlings upwards I might add!) loose in the field
The little darlings (not all the kids did these things of course, just a few...doesn't make it easier though!) also think it's perfectly acceptable to remove the wooden kissing gates either end of the field for fire timber, or even just so they can take their bikes through without having to lift them over...

The council are now replacing with some metal and concreted gates so hopefully, during term time, the field will be usable again!

But it really does make you wonder what is going through the minds of people who do this sort of thing - if anything!

How can people be so cruel,it really upsets me when i hear about things like this happening to horses or any animals.Sad what our society produces in people prepared to make animals suffer :(

Yes it was a crossbow bolt. I think that the horse is ok though. I understand that ti was near Hebburn that it happened.
