I've posted before about Harry's talent for escaping. To solve it I turned Heidi & Harry into a HUGE area with the herd who live on the hill behind the yard. They have been very happy there. Harry & the rest of the herd are lean and healthy on there - but poor old Heidi has become very overweight. Not good in a Shettie. She is showing some signs of low grade laminitis and I've had to take her off the grass. But Harry won't stay in a starvation paddock! I could try a muzzle but I doubt it would stay on 5 minutes. They won't be separated.
Winter was a nightmare with constant escaping last year in search of better grass.
Also one of my 2 daughters has stopped wanting to come to the yard, and so 3 ponies is 1 more than will be used.
Seems that lots of things are pointing towards me saying goodbye to lovely Harry. But I feel SOOO guilty separating him from Heidi. Should I be selling as a pair? Or will they get over it quite quickly. They all cope with weaning after all. I feel cruel. :(:(:(
