Define Horse Whispering?
try this site
www.intelligenthorsemanship.co.uk
they do course in course in learing communication with your horse by using body language. ie monty roberts way.
if this is what you mean then try these. they do course through the year, there are several course you have to do before you can become an intelligent horsemanship associate their is also an exam you have to sit. Kelly Marks does teach on most of these courses.

I always thought that the whole point of an actualy "horse whisperer" is someone who has an unnatural talent (not learned) to understand horses and use their ways to train them.
Otherwise, I just call it "natural horsemanship".
Can you LEARN to be a horse whisperer?

Horse whispering - the term, simply refers to those people who understand the body language and commonsense of dealing with horses so that when they are observed working with horses by those people without any 'horse sense' they appear to be working the horse as if by magic - ie whispering to it.
So, yes, it can be learned. Its not magical or mystical its using commonsense, empathy and body language - what's referred to as 'Natural Horsemanship'.
ve112 if you have a look at some of the other discussions in this section you'll find plenty of links and info on NH clinics, books and trainers in the UK :)

Guys, if you want to see horsewhispering at it's best, go see two of Monty Roberts and Kelly Mark's Intelligent Horsemanship Recommended Associates at work. They're holding a charity event aiming to raise money for Brooke. The event is free, however a donation would be brilliant.
The event is in aid of the Brooke hospital for Animals, a charity which does superb work to help mules, donkeys and horses in several third world countries such as Jordan, Pakistan, Egypt and India. They provide veterinary support, education, troughs for water and other basic necessities and represent the best face of our culture in those countries.

Nicole and Adam's website is :http://www.whisperingback.co.uk. If you have a horse or pony that's having problems, please contact them if you are short of cash and if you can get your friend to Moor Wood then they might be able to help on the day for free. Remember they'll also be doing an event in South Wales, so details will follow soon.

I'd recommend Mike Peace - you can find a link to him on NewRider but I think his e-mail address is Mike@thinkequus.com
I'll check and correct this if it's wrong.

Yes, it can be learned, but I don't think it's a skill that just anyone can have. Intuition and attention to finite responses and movements isn't something that everyone just has, I guess is what I'm trying to say.
But yeah, Monty Roberts is the best one I've seen. He's incredible.

I'm not overly convinced about dear old Monty, I think if he'd really mastered the whole horsewhispering thing, then he'd be able to reach up, bend the horse's ear and whisper ...
Oi, stop bucking people off or I'm going to use this bloody dreadful gadget on you, matey

I can only repeat mayos LOL:D at kates post.
But surely a man who runs a scared horse into a crush so it can be poked with a fake hand on a stick while wearing a cravat and peaked cap cant be all bad ?
(i just re-read the last line, I think monty was the one in the cravat & peaked cap)
No matter what you think of Monty, his techniques or books, he was responsible for turning on many riders to a better deal for horses. Same for Parelli, without these two high profile media savvy clinicians, many of us would not have seen or heard of natural Horsemanship.
hats off to them both.
Horse whispering has a long and interesting history and the best part is that the history is still being written by some great trainers/clinicians and everyday horsepeople.
cheers all

Can't argue with that, lots of the horsemanship people I admire wouldn't be where they are now without the likes of Monty and Parelli.:)
