Just had the most fabulous lesson - you know, when you are actually beaming from ear to ear and excited like a kid at Xmas! and have to tell some people who will understand and indulge me ;)

Was working with my instructor to put a 'last block' in place and we had a great time, working together to come up with various exercises and descriptions to get me to get that correct pelvic tilt\mobility going while not losing the other building blocks that we've put in place over the last 6 mths or so.

Worked without stirrups for ages with various exercises and images before I was able to mentally 'release' my last resistance to the horse's motion. Then when I took my stirrups back it was just so magical (we had actually been working toward a correction in my rising trot mechanism) I felt like every joint in my body had expanded and now was filled with rubber - somehow I glided forward at any pace in complete union with my horse's movement. Each piece of my body was completely balanced with each other and there was neither weight nor effort required to transition up or down....

I can't wait to achieve the next level, each time I learn something significant I think 'wow! this is so much better '- and then you realise there is even MORE ....

Sounds wonderful!

I know I have been going on a bit too much when my
husband's eyes start glazing over, much as he tries
to indulge me as I relate my latest horsey revelation!

You must look lovely floating around in that trot,
would love to see pics.

I bet your horse appreciates the effort you are
putting into become a fluid rider.

Yes, he's a total schoolmaster when its expected of him (and a racehorse when he's out and about) When I'm doing exercises that involve waving my arms about or not having control of the reins he'll make nice circles around the instructor anyway. We were doing some of the 'touch the poll, touch the tail' exercise and although he normally travels long and low when we're in this training mode - he'd lift his head every time I leaned forward to touch his poll - such a sweetie.

He apparently gave Julie (my instructor) the 'oh thank god, I've been trying to teach her that for ages' look :D

I bet he is a pleasure to be around.

What did he do before you got him, or have you had him most of his life?

Sounds as though you are near to achieving what we all strive for- to be as one with your horse. Marvellous. L
