Hi people,

Ok so this is the first summer i've had Taffy and I had no Idea he wold react soooo badly to fly bites!!!

I went up today and how many horse flys!! they were everywhere

I looked at Taff and saw this huge lump on his belly and I mean MASSIVE its dinner plate size. He's got quite a few little ones too.

I have fly repelled him I did it this morning and every morning and night time. It just didn't seem to work.

Has anyone got any ideas of how to sooth it I've bathed it in cold water for about 20mins then put more fly repellant on him. I also put him in.

Do you think I should put him in in the heat of the day to help him get away from then?

Are fly rugs worth getting and if so which make????

Please help me with your advice he looks really uncomfortable:(

Hi Gemma,
Hope i can finsh my conv before it cuts me off this time, soory about the other night.

I would either bring him in or buy a fly rug, the masta ones are a good one i believe my friend has 3 and she swears by them. You could also bath him with tea tree oil shampoo (or lavender wash s) when its warm, try feeding him garlic granules in his feed, i sneak a clove into minnie as well every few days, in a piece of bread or with a handful of mints. :D

Thanks Nat, I guessed you'd been cut off the other nite.

I will try the bathing in tea tree and I'm also going to bring him in.

Its really annoyed me that he's got these horrid bites 1) because I can't go to the show today
and 2) because they seem pretty sore.

Thanks **Gemma**

Aah thats a shame! I know what you mean Huggy hardly stops shaking his head around when Im on him! Its because ofthe flies I think, he always wants his nose scratched! You can get masks for them! Isnt garlic meant to help repel the flies?
