when to put on fly mask ?

I use a fly mask on my horse in the summer to late fall and i was wondering when should i put it on ? Like at the end of june or not until July ? I noticed that the flys where not that bad yet but saw some auround his eyes. I take my horse in at night so then i take it off and put it back on in the morning before i put him out to pasture. I also use fly repellant in the morning and at evening. I noticed that last year the fly mask worked really well to keep flys also dirt and debris out of the horses eyes.

Put it on when you feel your horse needs it. I generally start to put Bebe's on when she comes in with runny eyes, she's been wearing hers during the day for about a month now.

My horses get fly masks on as soon as the flies start coming out, usually around May until the end of fall. Our pony's eyes are really irritated by any dust, so she has to wear her's in the stall as well. I also keep a fly mask on any time we trailer because of hay flying around.

mine have them on as soon as there a quite a few flies around.
