My horse had a mild colic on Monday and we followed all the proper steps. He is doing 100% better now. Is there a certain amount of time I should wait until riding him?

If it was a mild colic, then think of it as indigestion. When you have bad indigestion, how long do you wait until you do hard work again? :)

Hi There,
Glad to hear everything is 100% with him now. My horse has had two mild colic attacks over the last year, and I know how horrible it is.
Both times, the day after the colic, I took him out for a walk on the lead, then started riding again on the 2nd day, but took it easy and just went for a quiet wander down the road.
Do you know what caused the colic?
Good Luck :)

Thanks for the advice...I'm not sure what caused the colic. wish I did so that I could try to prevent it from happening again.

my horse had a severe colic (allergic reaction to furexel wormer)for the 2 days after recovery he was walked out and grazed in hand on grass, then on the 3rd day i rode him quietly up the road, and gradually increased his work load back up to normal (he was a very fit horse in hard work) after about 10 days.
