aghh! MUD FEVER!

my cob has mud fever! i noticed last night he wasn't his usual self and limping abit in trot so i jumped off and looked at his feet thinking he'd picked up a stone. noticed he had very red sore heels and fetlocks. been told that this is mud fever. so he's turned out with an antiseptic barrier creame on. how long does this take to heal? as he's my wee baby

Hopefully as the weather is quite dry at the moment it wont take too long for your baby to heal up!

My boy has only ever had mud fever when its starting to dry up too - must be something to do with the bateria when the mud is drying out.

From memory, my boys started to heal up within the week and was o.k. to ride - keep piling the cream and stuff on he'll be right soon :D

thanks. it seems to be healing quite well. he's still covered in cream and looking bored in the field. lol
