My Haflinger filly Mara is 13 months old, and this spring she got the warts that yearlings go through. They are still there, looking disgusting, the vet said to wait them out. Now, the skin on her lips has turned all blotchy!
Where her white blaze comes down to her lip, the skin is pink; where her chestnut coloring comes down to her mouth and the coat thins out, the skin was always a black/gray and very even color. In the last week, she suddenly has the same look that some Appaloosas have around their mouths, kind of a pebbly mixed pink and peachy color, with the black skin sort of faded out.
Very strange, anyone ever heard of a horse's lips turning color?
It doesn't appear to be sore or anything, although her pink blaze zone looked sunburned.
It's always something!
