Just to say, three NR members attended my lates 3 day seminar, AnnaB, OlavS, and Chapsi. It was a pleasure to meet and teach you all- although I had already met Maria (Chapsi) at Lisbon Show briefly. I have never yet had a seminar, where people didn't get on, must be because they are all of a like mind, but this one was especially fun!

Olav, you were great, being the only fella amongst all the women- you are obviously not intimidated or overwhelmed by an imbalance of genders!!

Good to meet Anna too, and hope all goes well with loan horse Ollie.

Heather,

Thank you so much for everything. You were the perfect instructor, patient, gentle, very positive and we were made to feel a very warm welcome.
Tomorrow I'll be back at the yard, keen to see how I get on, to put into practice what I learned during the seminar.
During the long journey home I kept saying to myself "up, down, up, down", "left, right, left, right", whilst moving my seat bones.... Hope it works tomorrow. I wish I had recorded Randy's noise to put me into the rhythm!
It's very late by now, so I'll write a more complete comment on the seminar tomorrow.

Hi, Heather

That you sooo much for a GREAT seminar, I can't wait to trot and canter on Monday when my week long trek starts!

I thoroughly enjoyed it, especially being surrounded by such beautiful women ;) Nice to meet other from the forum, too, although I didn't get that Maria's handle is Chapsi until now :o

I've got nearly 200MB of video clips from the simulator work, but I'm not sure how to share it with you... I can of course email them to you individually (I've got a broadband connection :D ) Or I can put them on my web page, but I've only got 20MB of space so I would have to put them on there in turn... And I will only put the video clips on a web page with Heather's permission of course.

In any case, you'll be sure to get some of Randy's noises from the video, Maria!

Olav, don't make me blush. When you get to my age, to be called "beautiful woman" is a very flatering compliment.
We all enjoyed to have you around. You were the perfect gentleman, gentle and considerate. We all missed you after you left.
Hope you have lots of fun with your trekking.
I would love to receive my video clips and the photos you made; just don't know whether my mail box would accept it.

Hi Olav,

I second Maria's sentiments!! You were a pleasure to teach and hope it all works for you when you next get on a horse!

Regarding video clips, I have no problem with it, don;t think we were saying anything rude at the time, were we?:D

Maybe Mike could offer some suggestions as to how to share it- Mike- you there?

Broadband? Lucky you- we still use carrier pigeons here in Devon!!!

:o Aaaww, you're too kind, both of you!

I'll try to upload your videos onto my web page for you to download, Maria, just need to get some uploading software, as I've just got a new hard disk and upgraded (?) to Windows 2000...
I'll try to do it tomorrow before I leave, but if I can't then I'll get on it again the minute I return from the trek.

The web page is located at home.chello.no/~horsetfd
At the moment there is nothing on there, really, although there is a really cute pitcure of me and my older brother with a lion cub between us  Taken some 26 years ago...

Anyway, I'll let you know once the videos are there for you to download.

Olav,
I am now in the process of downloading the video clips, but it seems that each will take approximately 30 minutes. Is that possible? So, for the time been I won't be able to confirm any success in the operation.
I would just appreciate if you could also send me a photo that you took of me, I guess at the pub, and the one where we are all together.
Enjoy your trekk in the mountains.

Heather,
Rode Pégaso today.
To begin with, I met him very relaxed, cooperative, so much that I hardly felt any fear of him, I even took him out of his box with a loose rope and he followed me as a goooood boy. I wonder, could he be missing me, or just glad that he had a break from me?
Lungeing was fine, although for a stabled horse who hasn't worked since Friday there weren't many bucks or wizzing around.
I rode him, I tried to be assertive, applying what we had learned at the seminar. Pégaso again was cooperative and rather forward going. My instructor was gobsmacked, he kept saying "oh well, he is working well today", "going to Britain did you good, you returned a hardy rider".
I am so pleased, and in fact I feel that now I want to achieve more. It helped that my horse was so NORMAL, it made me feel good. Just for a day I could handle him like any other horse, just on the positive side. Mind you, still tried to bite me in the afternoon as a protest against TTouch massages (he hates it). It was a friendly warning though, "to keep me on my toes", I suppose.

Hi Heather, Maria & Olav,

I had a fantastic time on the seminiar & it was great to meet some other like-minded horsey people. I can see why Heather chose the name 'Enlightened' Equitation for her method, although it's a shame that it has to have special name as it makes so much sense you have to wonder why everyone doesn't teach this way! My poor boyfriend is completely fed up with me raving on about what a good time I had & how much I learned - I'm trying to get him to come & film me ride Ollie again so that I can do a comparison to the video I did before the course, but I think that might take a bit more persuasion!

I had my first ride today following the course, although it was a lesson, so I couldn't 'experiment' as much as I would have liked, but I definitely feel as though I had improved as a rider and my instructor could also see a diference (more on the EE website forum about that). I can't wait till Thursday when I get to ride Ollie and can play around with the new techniques that I learned.

Maria, I'm so glad that you had a good ride on Pegaso - I was thinking about you yesterday, wondering how your lesson went. It's really good that your instructor could see a diference too. Your horse is really lovely and he is very lucky to have you as a owner, willing to do so much to help him. I don't know about you, but when I had my lesson I felt much less like a useless passenger, hoping that I would get the response that I wanted. Now I know the correct aids and the correct way to sit I am a much more 'assertive' rider as my instructor put it!

Take care everyone & speak to you soon on one forum or another!

chapsi, that is terrific news!:) I'm so happy for you - good for you for learning so well!

Now if we can only manage to get Heather to come to somewhere in the southeastern U.S. - or heck, anywhere on the east coast would be wonderful!:D

Why not burn your video clips to CD and post them?

BTW Heather, its Ken, I was on a seminar about 3 years ago and we had someone we almost didn't get on with.....

Do you remember?

all the best

Course I remember you Ken- guessed it was you when I saw your 'handle'! Do you know, it is funny, the other person, who is one of the only ones that I felt was not as easy and likeable to teach, in the 12 years of doing courses, I can't actually remember, but I remember you no trouble!! Mind you we have met at the Equine Event etc too.

Ah, I think I remember now who it was- she wrote and thanked me afterwards though for a great course!!!

Thanks for the advice, Ken

Girls, if you pm me your address I will send you a CD with all the video clips (and maybe even the horse trek ones just in case you want to see them at full resolution) :) I've got Linda's address and her CD will be on it's way shortly. And Heather, I've got your address of course ;)
