Hi all,
I'm new to your fabulous site, so I thought I'd pen (type even!) a small note to say hello to you all.
I'm called Ben and I love riding almost as much as I love being one of the few men who do it ;)
See you all in the chat room soonest?
Ben

Thanks for the warm welcome folks - more horse details as requested:
I ride, but sadly do not currently own a light chestnut mare who goes my the name of Magic. She's about 15 hands high, part Thoroughbread/part Welsh, and she is absolutely fantastic (excepting the odd day which I'm sure you've all experienced!).
No photos to post as yet, but I'll try to swipe a digital camera for a few minutes so you can have a gander!
Nat - re: me. What do you want to know?

There's loads of male riders here....we're taking over the world and we're generally better at it than the women. Incidentally I tried pretending I was a centaur this morning but fell down the stairs.

Morning Tommy!
Rotten luck with being a centaur, but practice makes perfect my friend. Give it another shot and see what happens ;-)
Question - Male riders are better at taking over the world, or better at going clippety-clop? I'm thinking that the ladies may have a few comments to make if we're talking clip-clop here!
Over to you girls..
B.
p.s. Re male riders taking over the world: Are your friends called War, Famine, and Pestilence?

Ben,
Not to be nosey but...where are you from , how old are you , how long have you been riding, or are you a spy like tommy and cant divulge any info?:D
Santorium
11th Jul 2003, 01:53 PM
Nat (and anyone else who's interested - nosey or otherwise),
I dont' think I'm a spy but if I am, I must be a very very secret one, because it's news to me ;)
Let's see...
According to my mum I'm 27, yet behave like either a very old man or a complete child depending on my mood.
I hail from sunny Surrey and have no intention of moving if I can help it! It's just too damn nice here..
I've not been riding for very long, but I'm a fast learner and extremely dedicated once my mind is set on something (not to mention fiercely competitive) - suffice to say my riding is improving in leaps and bounds thanks to a very talented perfectionist of an instructor!
I think that makes it your turn in the 'getting to know you game' doesn't it? C'mon spill the beans you know you want to..

Welcome Ben to NR!!! Agree with everyone, this site is extremely fabulous and Heaven sent, especially to new riders like myself! Just started taking lessons last May and I am addicted. I could always turn to this forum whenever I am confused or just wonder about something from my lesson or what not! :D

Welcome to the board Ben. I'm sure you'll love the site. The people here are very friendly and helpful.
I too started lessons as an adult. Now 32 and after about 3 years of lessons, I got my first horse, Bud. He's pictured in my Avatar.

Its more than a bug this ridding business, I think that I love the horses more than ridding, but thats great fun too.
I started 3 years ago, just a few hours ridding each month...now sometimes Im doing 9 hours a week....be warned!!:D

Hi, Ben, welcome to NR!
I'm Olav, a fellow male rider at 28.
I went to uni in Surrey, it's very nice there!
Been riding for about 6 months at a local riding school about twice a week. But during the Summer the horses are sent off to the mountains, so I won't be riding until they return all loony in mid August.
