Sorry not to be around folks. BT managed to cut off my line last Friday and haven't yet reinstated it, one week later, despite daily protestations, and now a threat to go to Offtel. An engineer in controls there admitted to me today that they had been installing a new line for the barn conversion across the lane, and they hadn't enough connectors on the pole. So, wait for this- they cut off my line to install the new one!! Can you believe it?!!!!!

I have plagued them daily. I rang customer services, which took me nearly 30 minutes each time. Three days in a row, they finally answered and put me on hold to find out what was going on. Ten minutes and the same damn tune for the whole time, later, clunk, and I am back in the queue for an adviser. I then have to repeat the whole saga, and off they go again. Ten minutes later, I am back in a queue, steam coming out of my ears and ready to blow the next poor adviser into outer space!!

Each day they have promised me- today, or at worst, tomorrow. I got through to the complaints review service tonight, only to be told that the work is not even scheduled. So, heaven only knows when I will be back on, my mobile bill is mounting, and BT said cheerily- 'well of course you will get one pound a day compensation'. I growled back that I wanted a pound of flesh, not a pound a day, and wouldn't stop until I got it!!

So, I am borrowing my Father's phone line to send this!! Will be back as soon as BT allows me!!

Good luck Heather. They almost got me sacked after I moved in February - all because I wanted a second line in here and the simple request caused all kinds of chaos.

Hi Heather

That explains the silence from East Leigh. Poor you, what a nightmare and total pain when you are trying to run a professional business. I'm sure you'll sort them out.

Bleeech!

When my cell service suddenly went out at my house, I called and complained. They offered to take 3 days' worth off the bill for that month; I've learned a very good phrase to use in dealing with customer service: "That's not good enough." I use my phone at home; I *can't* use my phone at home; they need to not be charging me for ALL of the days in which I have no service at home and they need to make it up to me. I got quite a bit more off my bill than 3 days.

It's a bit different when you've got a choice of providers, though :( Still, you can demand--what are they going to do, tell you no?
