I am looking for a sharer for Mattie, my 15.2, 12 year old French Arab gelding.
He lives out and is a gentle, polite horse with very good manners. A delight to hack, with very few quirks or anxieties, he goes in a bitless bridle and is a sensitive horse, who responds well to seat aids. He has elevated Arab paces and lots of energy for canters, but is equally happy to potter along on the buckle.
Because of an old racing injury he should not jump or compete, but is very happy to hack out three or four times a week. He will also school, though he has not done much of this in his life, and there are indoor and outdoor schools to hire nearby if you want to take lessons.
I would like a gentle rider for him, someone who will love him and care about him. You do not have to be an expert - I am a confident novice and hack him out very easily - but you need light hands and an unflappable outlook. A contribution of £25 a week with no field duties would enable you to ride him up to 4 times a week on any day except Saturdays - and I could negotiate on the Saturdays for the right person.
A sociable person, who would enjoy hacking out with me on my pony or with Mattie's other fieldmates, would be welcome.
Mattie is kept near Shamley Green, 6 miles from Guildford. We are surrounded by wonderful off road hacking, though Mattie is very safe on the roads if you do need to do any roadwork.
