Ellie is only 5 and hasn't done a lot in the past (can't be more specific) I notice when I ride her she seems a bit "floaty" - the nearest I can come to describing the feeling is the difference between sitting on a rock and sitting on a large bean bag cushion. She feels as though she "drifts" about underneath me. Walking in a straight line is not possible and would look more like a dogs back leg! Any tips on how to improve this or is it just a matter of time for her to get the right muscles and sort her legs out?

Thanks
Sonia

Yes, I'd say it's a matter of time. Newly started horses are often unbalanced. Keep working with her and be patient- she's still a baby at five. You could also try long reining to help her balance. I've never done it myself but I know many people who have had great success with this method.
