View Full Version : Boarding Etiquette

I'm boarding my horse in a stable, and the barn is really cobwebby. Is it considered snobbish or rude to de-cob-web your own stall, and not the whole barn? I don't want to clean out their barn, I'm paying them after all to board my horse! The barns are clean -- just super cobwebby up the fronts of the stalls.

Anybody got any ideas on this? This is my first horse, therefore my first boarding, and I don't want people to think I'm a snob... but I'm sort of a neat freak... :p

The stables where I ride have a few cobwebs.. but it's not overwhelming. Maybe they are keeping them there to control the flies? Also, I wouldn't consider it rude if you just cleared your own stall of cobwebs, as some people might want to keep them there (or they might not like you being in their own stall).

Leave the webs alone - they're nature's free fly control :)

I guess I'll just have to repress my neat freak tendencies... This is my first horse, first real time spent in a barn other than helping friends or visiting, etc... I'm trying not to be a hopeless city-dwelling noob... :) thanks for your replies!

Don't worry, soon you'll be converted into a true horse person! Swanning into your local supermarket totally oblivious to the hay hanging off your jersey, mud and manure covered boots and bits of chaff and molasses in your hair. :)
