Hello. I am wondering if anyone can help me with this new problem I am
having: I have had a lot of experience cantering (3 or 4 years) but recently
I have been told by several people that I "collapse" my back to absorb the
canter motion. One instructor told me to use my pelvis more. What is the
correct way to absorb the motion? Should I try cantering in 2 point??

Sorry to bump into this post, but I am wondering the same thing too.
I was told by my instructor to scoop with my seat at canter... but a few months later she told me to stop. Do instructors tell you to exagerate the motion just to get the feel? (I think that is what your instructor may be doing snozzcucomber)

I'm relatively new to it, but I get told to keep my back straight and absord the movement with my pelvis and it seems to work okay :)

For an excellent description of how you should absorb the canter motion, see Heather Moffett's article on this website: www.newrider.com/Kinder_Way/The_Paces/canter.html
You definitely don't want to scoop with your seat as it will be very uncomfortable for both you and your horse.

I agree with the above. My instructor told me its a scoop. She said I am doind move of a snap. She then told that I should over do it so then I can feel the motion better.

I still don't quite understand how to stop collapsing my back. This is
incorrect, right? Even if I am not "rowing" with my shoulders? I am still
quite confused...

Try not to do that. Try to sit straight but don't make your back go stiff, gently rock forwards and back and you should get it.

dont' have a fixed seat, but a following seat, don't exaggerate the movement and move your hips with the horse's. <-- believe me I hear it every week!
