Hi All

Today I finally got to try some of the cross country fences on Lady. My daughter came and took some photos and I think that some of them are pretty good - what do you think?

This first one is of us jumping the log just about two strides before entering the deep water -

- and this is coming back the other way, water first (need loads of impulsion) then 2 strides to the log -

and finally - this one, it would have been a great photo if she hadn't been quite so close to us. This was the second part of a 'bounce' fence.

By the way, she's not sweating in any of these phots, we had done the water once before these were taken so she was wet from that!!!

thaxted, i saw your name in the Farm Week there other week!

Is that lessan's cross country? It looks like fun?

Lady must be really furry, if she's already clipped. Maverick has a bib clip now as he gets so hot.

well done for today as you look like you had a fab time!

Hi Maverick

Blush...yes....15hh and under working hunter, she did a really good round of jumps and behaved pretty well in her 'show'. This of course was after I had fallen off in the Novice Horse class. I got a look at our marks for jumping and we got 190 out of 200 (or possibly 210) so I was very chuffed at that.

Yes - that's Lessans cross country, the views yesterday were great, you could see for miles from the top of the hills. It was a levely day to do the jumps, not too hot with a nice breeze blowing to keep us all cool.

I've never really done much x-country before so it was great to have a go and, of course, Lady has been round all the fences before so at least one of us knew what we were doing!!!
I'm really pleased to see that I'm not looking 'down' in any of the pics...hurray

As Lady is so old she grows a really thick coat, we had to clip her a couple of weeks ago during the hot weather as even just standing in the stable she was sweating, and if she did any work then she was dreadfully wet. In October she'll get fully clipped. You should see how much her coat has grown in just the last week though.

Watch Farm Week this week as Lessans Riding Club will have special news!!!

I'll let everyone here know about it after the newspaper has been published.

tee hee...the article was written by our press officer who is a journalist - she makes me sound much more clever than I really am!! I like the photo used in the article though (I've attached it below), it was taken in my study where I do all of my work. If you look carefully you can see my chemistry stuff on the walls behind me.

Getting the photo of lady was funny - Obviously I needed one where you could see my face - and as is usual, Lady was standing there with droopy ears being very disinterested. One of the girls standing around said - 'I know what to do' and she lifted up a piece of ragwort that had been pulled earlier in the day. Of course, the bright yellow colour and the appearance of a huge plant caught Lady's attention, her ears pricked up, she stood up straighter and hurray - the photo was taken.

the picture looks really well in colour. The black and white one was a bit too fuzzy.

I can see you chemistry stuff on the wall. Thats the posters with the atom bonds on it. Oh how I love chemistry. I've just started it for AS and its so much fun. I was doing titrations today and finally understand them!

um.....she's not chestnut - she's palamino!!! I guess she's a little dull now because of her age (she's 26-27). Don't know her breeding but I reckon she must have some arab in her.

sorry but you can't have her (tee hee) she'll never be sold now
