It was a long hot hot Summer. Jasmine was pregnant but didn't keep the foal. I decided to wait until nest Spring to try it again and give us some more time with just the two of us. I did send her to my trainer for some refresher courses and she told me to go ahead and keep doing the Parelli with her. i really didn't get to work with it much because of the heat and a very buggy season. We just started up again recently. I worked with her yesterday and she really picked up on the squeeze game. I got her to go around a barrel for me passing by me and then I got her to go out and then pass me and go over some walk over poles I had set up! I was really pleased.:) I've also finally got her to yield her forequarters and go in a circle. The sideways game is still a challenge for both of us. I do think some time off helped us. We also got a new saddle! An English Draft horse saddle! She's got such a broad build ( Quarterhorse/Morgan) that her Western saddle was pinching her. I felt awful about using it. Anyway the new saddle fits her great and she's in a much better mood to ride now. Lucky for me my trainer was already putting me on an English to help me with my balance issues so it wasn't such a shock to end up with one. how is everyone else doing?

Sounds like you are doing well, sorry to hear about the foal. I have also had rather a break from it as I have been away much of the summer so no real progress to report from here, except that the improvement in Rupert's behaviour that became evident when I started Parelli is still there - his manners are still so much better than they were before.

And I've had a mixed summer too - we nearly gave up on Parelli as Molly was just like a goldfish - couldn't concentrate for a nano-second!

However, went as a spectator to a course at Lynn Henry's (UK Instructor - well worth every last penny - very humorous, focused and informative!), and had a couple of Parelli sessions with a friend. We are now doing 5 of the 7 games pretty well, and have given her one go at riding with just the halter. Pretty scary as she had been out of work for near on 2 weeks, and she is a strong boistrous cob! But we came out ok the other side!!:D

WE now try and do at least 10 minutes with her before we ride, and do some games with her on the days we don't ride. Molly loves playing games with Stewart - who I have to say is a bit more athletic than I am, and its lovely to see them chasing each other round the school, with her stopping when he stops, and cantering when he "Canters":D :D

Sorry about the foal, good luck with your parelli! We all like hearing about it (at least I do) I just recently had my own success in which I managed to lead Mear out of the paddock, up the drive and into her stall. With out a halter, or lead rope, or anything.
