i am looking at a mare to buy. she is a 15hh connemara x 4yrs old and recently backed and enjoys jumping. i have my doubts wether i'm too heavy for her. i'm 5,1 am weigh around 10stone. (ahhhh)
if i owned her i would want to do riding club activities and x-c and showjumping. height wise i'm probably ok but am i too heavy. honestly please.
also how high on average could she jump when more mature? 1m? or more i know she'll never be a top class showjumper lol but could she carry me over 1.10m tracks?

no, you are not too heavy. as a rough guide, my 13.3hh nf mare has carried 13 stone with no problems. i can't think that any 15hh horse should be unable to carry 10 stone, and natives can carry more proportionally than tohers, so the connie blood will help.
jumping - it absolutely depends on the individual horse and her talent. unless she's absolutely useless though, i doubt 1m would be too difficult for a horse of that size. if she's at all talented, then probably a fair bit more. again as a rough guide - copper, who is 14hh, could in his heyday get over 4 foot without much trouble, and he was riding school-fit, not competition fit.

My little 14hh welshie carries me and I'm 10.5 stone and 5'8"....he has gote masses of bone though - a real chunker, bless
A pony with connemara blood should be able to jump biggish tracks...they seem to borne with wings on their heels, last connie I rode could out jump everything in the stable and she was only a 14.2
I don't think you'll have a problem :D

My 13.2hh New Forest carries me without a problem and he is not very fit, and not cobby. I am 5ft and vary between 9st and 10st depending how good I am being ;) He has carried me really well even at 10st - dancing along as if I weigh nothing. I don't know how high Rupert can jump under saddle but I have seen him clear 5ft repeatedly when loose in the field (it was the top height of the electric fence on the longest stakes you can buy:rolleyes: ). I have no qualms about jumping Rupert eventually and he is only 13.2hh so I would have thought 15hh would be no problem at all.
Here is a rather old photo of Rupert and I (excuse the huge puffa jacket and body protector - not a good look :D ).

she seems talented, jumping 60cms after learning in one week. i seem her jumping a 70cm spread. she has paces to die for very floaty for a pony and has that lovable pony character. i wouldn't jump her over anything higher than 80cm till shes more mature. what makes me want her all the more is that she was orphaned at 3months old and loves people.

Connemara blood shines through. Connies just love to jump, and jump and jump. The bigger, the better. And she'll carry you no probs. Go on, get the connemara X! (Can you tell I'm a fan? :p)
