Just a question?? help why is he doing this?

just a question. When i am riding my horse in the field and we come by an open space goin onto the rode he is eager to go on the rode. We will be walking and i would want him to go the other way but he wants to go on the rode so bad for some reason and he won't go any except straight for the rode, so i have to get off and walk a little down towards the field. But one time i let him go along the rode walking along the side, and he kinda starts to freak out but wanting to keep going on the rode? whats up with this, anyone have any suggestions?

By any chance, does he relate the road as a route to the barn. Because if he does his wanting to the road may be attached to that, And when he hits the road with his feet he gets scared, or dosn't enjoy the footing.
It might be that!

Perhaps he is just bored with riding in the fields and wants to go somewhere different!
