Just a question?? help why is he doing this?

just a question. When i am riding my horse in the field and we come by an open space goin onto the rode he is eager to go on the rode. We will be walking and i would want him to go the other way but he wants to go on the rode so bad for some reason and he won't go any except straight for the rode, so i have to get off and walk a little down towards the field. But one time i let him go along the rode walking along the side, and he kinda starts to freak out but wanting to keep going on the rode? whats up with this, anyone have any suggestions?

Is this road leading towards the stable - in this case it could be that he wants to go home. Or maybe other people always ride him on that road and he wants to stick by the route he is used to.

no it's leaving the stable on to a main rode....?? he gets all jumpy and not wanting to leave???
