I've found it so interesting reading people's experiences from around the world that I was hoping to put an 'international stories' section together on my website.

Storage space isn't really a problem for me so I was hoping for say a '1 pager' with a few photos of yourself & horse, your environment \ riding school (i.e. contrasting say New York and the Shetland Islands - hint hint Wally I'm hoping you guys might contribute)

My site was started originally as a reference for mature beginner riders - but I certainly wouldn't discourage anyone who is kind enough to contribute, no matter what your age.

If you're interested but can't think of how to start here's the sort of info I'm after -

* when and why you started riding - what experience with horses you had till then
* getting your first horse - how you went about it, what the experience of owning has been like - if you've owned more than one you might like to talk about your favourite (or most naughty or whatever)
- or if you haven't how that's worked out for you, special horses you've learned on at riding schools etc
* anything 'special' about your part of the world - i.e. if you live in a big city - how long do you commute\ how often or perhaps what its like for the horses to be stabled in\near a city - likewise for areas where perhaps riding is a male thing or horse's are very expensive\rare etc
* the most common\popular breeds\equestrian sports in your area\part of the world - is your horse the same\ different - what you like about that breed, if you participate in a particular sport\competition\showing class
* Where and how you keep you horse(s) - Types of equipment\tack that are common in your part of the world - i.e. the stuff on Brits\Europeans using normal blankets\quilts in the stable was interesting to me even tho' its normal to you guys. Livery, DIY Livery - what that actually means for instance - how often you visit your horse etc (photos would be good for this section so that people can compare say a US barn to typical UK livery etc )

If you are interested I'd love to hear from you and you can email me your story and photos (if they're already published somewhere just provide the link and I can get them directly) to

virtuallyhorses@thepostmaster.net

I'll show you a copy of the page prior to publishing and put the page links to published stories here for New Rider members to enjoy. :)

What a great idea Viv. I will try and dig out some literacy skills during my new found freedom (I've just started working part time - first afternoon off now and can't see nag til later) and post some thoughts to you!

I've just emailed you - I hope it doesn't bore you too much - it's not very exciting :o

I've also e-mailed you with basic, though boring, answers to your questions.:D

Excellent - I'll send you a 'proof' so that you can approve or disapprove any editorial 'fluffing' I do to the original content :)

If anyone gets their mail returned as undeliverable - please let me know, there seems to be a problem at Postmaster at the moment and I'm just hoping they resolve it shortly.

Would you be interested in lesson students? I can certainly contribute - will get some pics of the barn this weekend (it's gorgeous!) & send them on the way..
However, I'm a non-horse owner...

Yes, Please! I found it weird when I first considered lessons and live in Auckland city - where do you start ? is there anywhere to ride? I can't imagine what its like if you live and work in New York City!

Do we have to post replies with the severe limitations on picture size and qualty imposed by NR or can we submit as PMs with attachments for you to select which images appeal?

I'll have a go ... perhaps .. sometime. It sounds very interesting, much more so than my coursework!

The only limitation I put on photo size\quality is to make it reasonably fast for most people to be able to view, so please send whatever photos Or URLs to photos that you wish and I will edit them to make them suitable for browsers.

BTW If you don't include a location on your New Rider profile - include it in your story (so that we know where in the world the story is about :) )

The response so far has been great! Thanks so much to everyone and I hope you enjoy seeing the finished product - I should have the first batch available for viewing in a couple of days.

OK Postmaster has gone belly up again for the last few days so I haven't been able to email the people who have contributed so far (or pick up any new ones).

However, I have started editing and publishing most of the ones sent in so far. So if you would like to take a look Click Here (http://worldzone.net/recreation/virtuallyhorses/intstories_es.html)

Not all the navigation to the rest of the website is in place yet (but it will be shortly).

If your story has been published and you have any corrections or would like any other changes please PM me. I know there's a couple of "?" characters on some of the pages and some of the photos still need captions... Kedwards I have received your story thanks it is next on the list (haven't finished mine yet either ;) )

Hope you enjoy them as much as I did :) BTW

No! and I'd love it - no doubt sitting in my PM mailbox :( Are you able to resend or is that a drag?

Oh, I can certainly resend :) Compulsive little me, I save a copy of everything I send.

I had emailed to the address you posted above...no "undeliverable" so I thought it had gotten through. Will email to this address instead :)
